Panic Attacks

A number of people seem not to believe that panic attacks are real. They are real. In fact 5% of Americans suffer this condition even its more serious form which is anxiety disorder. To some this condition is something strange or even ridiculous and absurd, but to those who experience it is something terrifying aside from being disparaging. It can destroy ones social life and take away the enjoyment of living.

It is difficult to control panic attacks. It is so because it is a condition that is complicated and has something to do with the human psyche and the physical body at the same time. The combination of these two makes it complicated. To control panic attacks one has to make sure these two human aspects are dealt with.

The Two Human Aspects To Deal With

The psyche part of it is the anxiety while the physical aspect of it is the obvious symptoms that follow the attack. These physical symptoms are the things that make people really terrified of the experience and wish never to have it again. The symptoms would even make them think they have other deadly physical ailments. This fear adds to the experience making it more traumatic. The symptoms are: nausea, stomach cramps, chest pains, short of breathing, tingling, numbness, extreme dizziness and so on.

Controlling Panic Attacks

There are several things that are available for people to control panic attacks. One of the most common ways is through behavioral therapy which will require a lot of time and expenses for people, without a guarantee of being completely cured of it. Another is through drugs that alleviate the anxiety. Drugs do make people calm and relax, but when the drug effects are gone the anxiety which is the root cause of panic attacks comes back triggering another attack. Another method used to control panic attacks is through relaxation methods. Again this may help a bit, but it does not directly deal with the root cause.
