Controlling Panic Attacks in 3 Simple Steps
1. Analyze Your Thoughts
Controlling Panic Attacks
I am sure that you are all too familiar with the overwhelming flow of negative thoughts that come just before a panic attack. It is like someone opened the flood gates or something in your mind.
Most people try and push these thoughts out of their mind. The freak out because they know what is going to come after those bad thoughts so they try and ignore them and deny them when they show up.
Rather than do this, you need to analyze those negative thoughts. Take each one in and look at it objectively. Why are you having that thought? Is it based on a rational fear based on this situation?
Most of our thoughts are extremely irrational in this state. Doing this exercise will ease the tension and you will either be able to prevent your panic attack from happening or it will be considerably less intense.

2. Breathing
Controlling Panic Attacks
The second you feel a sign of a panic attack coming on, you must begin regulating your breathing. Take deep slow breaths. The mistake most people make is not controlling their breathing until AFTER their attack has already arrived. At that point you are trying to take down a monster with a butter knife. It is much better to nip it in the bud when it is little.
3. Meditate
Controlling Panic Attacks
You should spend between 10-20 minutes every day in meditation. Meditation quiets your mind and gives you more control over it. This will allow you to CHOOSE the types of thoughts you have much more easily. Having full control over your mind will greatly decrease the chances of having all those negative thoughts flooding into your mind.
