Can I Convert and Transfer Music from iTunes to My Sirius Stiletto 2?

Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.

For a few years now I've owned an Apple iPod mini.  So I pretty much coverted my entire CD collection or purchased music in iTunes.  But now that Sirius has come out with their portable satellite receiver, SIRIUS Stiletto 2 Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 player, I've got the best of both worlds!  Why would I want to have a seperate Sirius satellite receiver and a seperate MP3 player (in this case my Apple iPod) when I can have both in one device!

However, I have a big problem.  Can I use my music that I have in my iTunes library on my SIRIUS Stiletto 2?  What formats does the Stiletto 2 support?  Can I convert my music in iTunes so I can put it on my Stiletto?

The SIRIUS Stiletto 2 Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 player supports both WMA and MP3 formats.  However, in most cases, when you import music (say from a CD) the format is AAC.  So unfortunately you can't simply drag and drop songs from iTunes onto your Stiletto.  But you can convert the AAC formated songs to MP3.

This will work with music that you've imported to iTunes.  It will not work directly with music you have purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, you can get around this by burning the purchased songs to a CD from iTunes.  This will remove the protection.  Afterwards, you can re-import these songs from the CD back to iTunes.  Then you can convert them to MP3.

So the beauty here is that you can use music in your library that you've imported to iTunes from a CD, purchased from another MP3 store, or purchased from the iTunes Store.  I LOVE to use Amazon.com to purchase my CD's or MP3 downloads since they are so cheap!

OK, so before we get started, here's what you'll need:

1.  iTunes loaded and running on your PC

2. My Sirius Studio loaded and running.  Oh yeah, and make sure that your Stiletto 2 is recognized by your PC (not sure if Sirius Studio runs on the Mac).

3.  Your SIRIUS Stiletto 2 Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 player

4.  USB cord to connect your Stiletto 2 to your PC

Now that we have everything here are a few simple steps to convert music in iTunes to put on a Sirius Stiletto 2.  The details are in a video I created and is shown below.

1.  In iTunes select the songs you want to convert

2.  Under Edit select Preferences.  Under the Advanced tab select Importing.

3.  Change AAC to MP3 (select at least 160 kps for the bitrate).  Hit OK.

4.  Make sure the song(s) is still selected and then click on the Advanced button in the menu bar.  You should see "Convert Selection to MP3".

5.  Click on "Convert Selection to MP3"

6.  After the song(s) is converted to MP3 you can drag and drop it to My Sirius Studio.  You can drag and drop it to either the PC or Stiletto 2 icon.  But if you drag and drop it on the PC icon, you'll have to drag and drop it again from the PC to the Stiletto 2 icon to transfer it to your Stiletto 2.

Like I said before, watch the video for all the details.

And that's how you convert music from your iTunes library to put on your SIRIUS Stiletto 2 Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 player
