- Like the way Bush ran the White House ( recession, lost jobs, deficit, America's economic worth decreasing, crashing stock markets ) vote for McCain. He said not only would he keep Bush's policy but he would double down on the tax cut for the wealthy, really does Exxon Mobile CEOs need anymore of our money? We are in the middle of an economic crisis and McCain admitted he doesn't know about the economy or how to deal with it, he said it wasn't his strong suit. Actually he does know about it but his views are the same as Obama in 2001 McCain didn't agree with the Bush tax cuts even though he voted for them anyway but guess what he said, he said we should tax the upper class and give the middle class a tax cut. Sound Familiar? It's on Youtube! Obama is the furthest thing from a socialist and we have programs in the US that are "socialist"
When you have several prominent figures within the Republican party endorsing Obama I think it's pretty clear. Vote 3rd party anybody but McCain!

- a great site. It's clear that this country is divided in where we want to go and what it should look like when we "get there". We are not an island unto ourselves - it's a world scene, and without a strong America the world will look much different. Thanks for giving the Squidoo community a chance to share what's important to us.

- I am a Canadian who hasn't followed the election in the U.S. closely. (We just had our own election.)
You have created an excellent lens on an important topic. I just published a lens on the election but with a lighthearted theme -- have you seen the Joe Biden, John McCain, Barack Obama and Sarah Palin Cabbage Patch Dolls?
I have linked your page in my 'More Reading on the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election' section and lensrolled it, too.

- I have watched the supposed "Christian right" support McCain and Palin no matter what was said by them or their campaigns. The kind of vehement rhetoric I hear is not "Christian" and for sure it is not right. I heard that some were told to pray that it would rain on the open air Democratic convention. It didn't. Instead Ike occurred during the Republican convention. Maybe God is not a knee-jerk Republican. And now Obama is accused of being a socialist. Social Security sure sounds like socialism to me. I would hope and expect that all the conservatives would not accept such tainted money, and make it available to those that consider it a reasonable program of the United States Government.
Compared to McCain/Palin, I see Obama/Biden showing coolness under this un-deserved and untrue fire and I see the high degree of intelligence and of integrity that they both have shown. I watched Obama run against Hillary. If she and her campaign had shown any integrity, she may have won. Probably the same thing goes for McCain. As far as abortion, I have seen no change in Roe v Wade under the Republicans. But Obama seems to want to minimize unwanted pregnancies and abortions. From what I have seen, I believe Obama more than anything I have heard from McCain and Palin.
Anyway, I can no longer call myself a conservative if this is what it means, and for sure I disavow the Republican Party. I will never become a Democrat or a liberal either, but this white male Christian is going to vote for Obama. Hope you do too.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earn ed on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA
New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already). New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not l east: new taxes to pay for socialized medicine, so we can receive the same level of medical care as third-world countries!!!

- Thank You! As the media has made very clear, this is the most important election of my lifetime! This is a great opportunity for the undecided to look at the issues and make their own decision. It is the Democratic process and I LOVE IT! I am going to see about doing something like this on our local level!
