My birdies enjoying my toys

My toy testers

As you can see, my toys are durable and very much enjoyed by birds! During the summer, I usually put my 3 big birds outside and if they start screaming, they are playing on some of my toys. Hanging upside down by one foot on a toy and got a death grip on a peanut with the other. My 2 cockatoos fight over toys all the time, it's like having 2 toddlers in the house. They start fighting over a toy and my African grey will go ... "what is your problem?" or "shut up!" ... so it's never a dull moment in our home. Then you throw in the conures and parrotlets and you have everything but quiet. You can bet they will get the loudest as soon as the telephone rings. Usually you have to go to the back side of the house or out on the porch to be able to hear on the phone. At times I get so irritated by them that I could get rid of them, but then Diva, one of my cockatoos, will go ... "hello baby, I love you" and it makes it all worth it. I love all my birds, even when they are loud and making huge messes... it's all in a day of living with birdies. I tell anyone that's thinking about getting a bird to think about these 3 points:

1. Do you hate messes?
2. Can you tolerate loud noises?
3. Are you afraid to get bitten?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you don't need a bird. You learn to be very tolerant when you live with birds.

Come see my toys!

They are very durable

I have 10 birds, so i know their likes and dislikes. My 3 biggest critics are my 2 cockatoos and african grey, if they don't give their approval ... then i don't make the toys for sale.

All toys come with pear links for small and medium bird toys and heavy quick link for the larger toys. Because the toys are handmade, no two are alike. The placement and colors of beads and shapes may be slightly different.

Shredders are a must

Let them make a mess

Most parrots love to tear up things, even things you don't want them to, like window frames, trim or even furniture. This is from experience! So give them shredders to tear up and it will save alot of heart ache down the road.

I also have foot toys

Let your bird play footsie

Foot toys are great for the birds that like to pick up things and play with them. This helps with balance, holding food and climbing around the cage. You have to keep parrots entertained to keep their mischievous little minds from getting into trouble.

I make special treats for my birds so here's one you might want to make for yours:

Bird Bread

For every 1 cup of left over salad/grain mix (this can be a combination of the raw chopped veggies, and any combination of cooked grains/legumes mixed together): add...... (I have been using 1 cup of mixed raw chopped fruit & veggies & 1 cup of the above recipe for cooked bean/rice/veggie mix then add the below ingredients)

2 cups whole grain flour, rice flour. (I have been using corn meal)

2 whole raw eggs (include shells)

Assorted spices (cinnamon or ginger)

About 1/2 cup of seed or raw/dry grain (or chopped nuts, unsweetened coconut, slivered almonds, dried fruit, apple sauce, quinoa, oat groats, etc.

Enough sugar-free liquid to make a nice thick pour-able batter. (about 1 1/4 cup). Any juice as long as it does not contain sugar.

Bake in a 13" x 8" x 3" glass pan for 45 - 50 minutes at 350°. You can 'grease' the dish with coconut
