Cook Like A Cowboy

Chuck wagons used to be the most important part of any cattle drive, but the reality wasn't anything close to the romanticized version of cowboy cookin' that most of us are familiar with. Still, what with those great old western movies and Louis Lamour and Zane Grey novels, we've all got this image in our minds of what it means to cook like a cowboy. So is it any surprise, then, that there are so MANY cookbooks devoted to this all American style of cooking? Cookbooks are more than just a collection of recipes. Each page tells a story and old cookbooks carry history on their pages along with the stains from having been used often.
