Buying a cookbook vs getting free recipes online
Ranked #24,203 in Food & Cooking, #481,165 overall
What do you think is better a cookbook or internet recipes?
Here we will be debating which is an easier way to cook, using a recipe book or getting a recipe of the internet. Which do you find easier? I would like peoples opinions and for everyone to let me know how they cook, do you use the internet or recipe books?
Traditional Recipe books VS Internet recipes
What do you prefer?
I am going to say which I prefer between traditional recipe books and free recipes off the internet and why I think this. Now lets start with the tradtional recipe books, they are great because you dont need a printer they are to hand when you need them and you dont have to search around to find your favourite recipe. (Well maybe a little but you know its one that you get along with). You can have a collection of your favourite chefs books and try to recreate their famous dishes, I havent once come across a recipe online from a famous chef. Also if your not sure what you want to cook you can go through the pages until ou find something appealing! Now there are also a few problems with recipe books espevcially some of the older ones, they arent made for todays ovens, this means you have to work out the times yourself depending on your appliance, which isnt great news if you dont want to be working things out. Not all recipe books have an index so to find the perfect recipe you may have to trawl through hundrends of pages to get to the one you want. Some can be quite thick and heavy too!
Now lets talk about internet recipes, these are great as they are free, you dont have to fork out for a book! If you have a printer then great, you can print out the recipes to have it to hand otherwise if you dont have a laptop other than taking the pc to the kitchen with you could be hours of handwriting recipes. You get lots of different insights and takes on different recipes online, this can help you find your perfect recipe using different peoples ideas of what to add. Now the main problem I can think about with internet recipes is you have invited the whole family round for dinner, you have found the perfect recipe online and you have favourited the page, you go online to retrieve the recipe to make sure you have all the ingredients and your internet is not working. How are you going to cook for all thoses people now?! Also theres always that temptation to go do other things online while you are cooking with the laptop infront of you!
Me, I like both, I will happily use both, I would prefer internet recipes if I had a printer instead I have my favourites filled with recipes and good recipe websites, but luckily for me I have a laptop which can come to the kitchen with me. For more traditional recipes I prefer to use the recipe books, but for more up to date and non-english dishes I think i will stick to the internet after all its there for a reason!!
