C is for Celebrate!!

If you've got a little monster in your life who loves cookies, why not throw him a Cookie Monster birthday party?

Cookie, as he's affectionately called by his friends, is the lovable monster from Sesame Street.

Kids of all ages have adored Cookie for his funny antics and stand out blue monster mane. He's a great theme to build a party around.

Below you'll find some great ideas on food, games and kids birthday party supplies to throw the best Cookie Monster Party ever!

Creative Cookie Invitations

First, you'll want to design Cookie Monster invitations. You can either hand by draw or use clip art of Cookie Monster. Just an outline will work well. You can color it blue with crayons and then copy the invite on a color copier (so you only have to color one!). Write your date and times and make it really fun by sending it in a blue envelope. Or send it in an envelope that will allow you to fit a wrapped cookie favor in it. That will really get everyone's attention.

You can find more information about the adorable homemade invitations pictured here at The Three Me's Blog.

It's all about the Cookie

Next, you'll want to plan for your food. The sweets are, of course, the highlight of the day. So plan on creating cookie monster cupcakes.

To make these adorable treats, you'll just want to bake up some cupcakes from any recipe. They can be chocolate, vanilla, or any flavor. Then, frost them with blue frosting. To make them extra cute, dye some coconut flakes with blue food coloring. Roll the cupcakes in the frosting to make monster fur. Then add eyes (with frosting or a Jr. Mint as shown here) and a cookie for the mouth. Any cookie will work - try sugar, chocolate chip or chocolate covered Oreo! Just stick the cookie into the monster's mouth area and it will look like Cookie Monster is eating a cookie.

The cupcakes set the tone when stacked on tiered cake stands. You can also opt for a giant cookie monster cookie cake. Just whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookie batter. Flatten it onto a pizza baking pan in a circle. Bake it and when it comes out, decorate it with blue frosting to resemble Cookie Monster's face.

You can use all blue dishware and silverware-disposable is best. Use blue streamers to set the party atmosphere. If you have cookie monster toys or other Sesame Street character dolls, bring them out and set them on the table and around the party for a cute effect.

You can also decorate the walkway to your home with a sign that says, "This way to Sesame Street" for an extra cool touch.

For birthday party favors, you can give out blue cellophane bags stuffed with chocolate chip cookies. Mini cookies work well for little kids. Or you can bake your own and hand out different flavors of cookies.

What's a Party Without Games?

If you want to include games, add guessing games and alphabet games. After all, Cookie teaches about letters every day on Sesame Street, so what better way to keep the theme and the learning going?

Older kids will also love this party theme if you incorporate other characters in as well as Cookie. Bring in other Muppets or Sesame Street characters like Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird. Ask guests to bring their favorite Sesame Street toys and have a fun time playing Sesame Street.

Below are a few games to get the party started!

Musical Chairs - Cookie Monster Style!
Print pictures of Sesame Street characters and tape them to chairs set up in a circle. Play Cookie Monster Music. When the music stops they sit down on the chair they are in front of. The one to sit in the Cookie Monster chair gets a prize!

Pin the Cookie on the Monster
Create a Large Cookie Monster on poster board with his hand in front of him. Blindfold the player and give them a "cookie cut-out with tape on it to try and put the cookie in Cookie Monster's hand (or mouth!)

Cookie Drop
Have the children try to drop sandwich cookies into a large canning jar placed on the floor. They can do this while standing or keeling backwards on a kitchen chair. The child who gets the most cookies in wins! (You could cut out a Cookie Monster face with a big open mouth that fits around the opening of the jar, so it looks like they're dropping cookies in Cookie Monster's mouth.)

Hot Cookie!
Played like "Hot Potato". Create a cookie with brown felt sewed together and filled with beans to create a beanbag cookie. Play music, and the one who is holding the cookie when the music stops is out! (If the children are real young and you don't want to risk hard feelings, you can give the children a little prize as they get out. The last one standing gets the grand prize.)

Play Cookie Monster Bingo

Cookie Monster Bingo is fun for kids of all ages! Call out a Sesame Street Character and cover that character with a mini cookie!

Create your own bingo cards on your computer, or find them at Ebay.
