What You Need to Know to Host a Holiday Cookie Swap

Holiday cookie swaps, also called cookie exchange parties, are a fun and easy way to enjoy lots of different Christmas cookies with relatively little effort.

You can make your cookie swap as fancy or as relaxed as you like. Some people host contests for the best cookie packaging or the prettiest cookies at the cookie swap. Others just wrap the cookies in plastic wrap and let everyone grab a bunch at the party. It's up to you.

Hosting a Cookie Swap - How It Works

Here's how it works:

You bake a large quantity of one kind of Christmas cookies - enough for each of your guests to take home 6-12 of your cookies. And each of your guests does the same.

Everyone wraps the Christmas cookies in individual containers (one container per guest at the party). Each person ends up taking home a wide variety of Christmas cookies to share with family and friends, and all you have to do to participate is bake a big batch of one type of holiday cookie.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

    In my old neighborhood, we used to have one every year. Not sure I'm going to have time this year, but my sister-in-law is hosting an exchange in a week or two. It is such a great way to get lots of cookies and catch up with friends you don't see all the time.
