Cookies in a Jar make great gifts. Presented in a Mason or other glass jar, the recipient can make the cookies whenever they want. Everyone loves getting Cookies in a Jar!

Cookie Recipes -- Everyone's Favorites! 

Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar

Jar Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
Chocolate chips

Filling the Jar:
Use a small funnel to layer the ingredients in a quart size canning jar in the order listed. Use enough chocolate chips so the jar is full to the top. Pack down all ingredients.

Instructions for recipient (write or print on card & attach to jar)

1 cup butter or margarine softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Thoroughly blend together the butter or margarine, the egg, and the vanilla. Pour jar of cookie mix into this mixture. Mix until completely blended. Drop teaspoons full of batter about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

M&M Cookies in a Jar

Jar Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
M & M's

Filling the Jar:
Layer the ingredients in a quart size canning jar in the order listed. Use a small funnel. Use enough candy pieces so the jar is full to the top. Pack down all ingredients.

Instructions for recipient (write or print on card & attach to jar)

3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Empty contents of jar into large bowl & thoroughly blend. Using your hands, mix in the butter until well blended. Beat together the egg and vanilla and add it to the batter. (Dough will be a little crumbly.) Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 14 minute until edges are lightly browned.

Oatmeal Cookies in a Jar

Jar Ingredients:

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup white sugar
2 cups oats
raisins

Filling the Jar:
Layer the ingredients in a quart size canning jar in the order listed. Use a small funnel Use enough raisins to fill the jar to the top. If you do not want to use raisins, you can use baking chips, like chocolate or butterscotch. Pack down all ingredients.

Instructions for recipient (write or print on card & attach to jar)

3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl & thoroughly blend. Add the butter or margarine, the egg, and the vanilla. Mix until completely blended. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet.

Molasses Cookies in a Jar

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. ginger

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Store the mix in an airtight container.

Instructions for recipient (write or print on card & attach to jar)

Makes 4 dozen cookies
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1/4 cup sulfured molasses
1 jar Molasses Cookies in a Jar mix

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In large bowl, cream together the butter, egg, and molasses. Add the Molasses Cookies in a Jar mix and beat until smooth. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar & place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Sugar-Free Oatmeal Raisin Cookies in a Jar 

1 1/2 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 cup flour
1 cup artificial sweetener
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins

Layer the ingredients in a jar.

Attach these instructions to the jar:

Preheat oven to 350 and grease cookie sheets.

Mix 2/3 cup melted butter, 4 egg whites, 1/2 cup skim milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add to contents of jar and mix well. Drop by teaspoon on to cookie sheet 1-2 inches apart. Bake 10-15 minutes.
