Tips For Making Healthier Cookies:
Cookies can be good for you! You just have to eat healthy cookies. It is easy. When baking your cookies choose healthy ingredients to put into them. Or as mama would say........just bake tons and tons of love into them.
There are a lot of little tips that will help you make healthier cookies....
When recipes call for lard or margarine, use non-hydrogenated margarine, this will reduce or eliminate those very unhealthy trans fats. Select only healthy oils such as Olive Oil, or Canola Oil to bake with, rather than those loaded with unhealthy trans fats.
Reduce the amount of sugar that the recipe calls for by at least one quarter. The cookies will taste just as good if not better.

*
Use walnuts to replace pecans or almonds.
Use Raisins or cherry bits to replace chocolate chips or candied jujubes.
Use 1% milk instead of evaporated milk and your fat content reduces substantially.
Make healthy food choices - Choose recipes calling for oatmeal and fruit or other healthier options.
Of course this theory of mine is just an excuse for me to eat as many cookies as I can.
I can't help it. I'm addicted to them.
They tempt me. They taunt me. Counseling hasn't helped. I cannot walk by the cookie jar without tasting at least one cookie! If the cookie jar is empty then I start baking.
I love them. I crave them. I am addicted to them.
I'm pitiful!

Wood Versus Plastic Cutting Boards
By Ladymermaid
Wood was naturally the first material thought to be safest for food cutting surfaces. Then with the emergence of plastic cutting boards we heard that plastic was safer, then wood once again came through as the safest choice, and then once more it flipped back to plastic.A very confusing situation when it comes right down to protecting yourself and your family from e-coli, salmonella and other food related bacteria. So which surface really is safest to use.....Read More.
Guide to low fat grilling
By Ladymermaid
If you just can't resist that beef hamburger, steak, chicken, or pork chops, then do it right. Grilling your food rather than frying it will prevent a tremendous amount of extra fat and calories from going into your evening meal.Grilling your protein fare allows the fat to seep out, and away from your meat, rather than having it stew within it. This means less fat, less calories, and a much healthier meal for you.
The human body does require some fat within it's diet, but this is a specific type of fat, and generally not the saturated or transfats found within meat products. The desirable Omega 3 fats that your body needs are generally found in food sources such a.....Read full article.
