American Power and Muscle
The Modern Day Muscle
Camaro, Mustang, And Challenger Sit at the Top

Now back in the 60's and 70's there were plenty of different muscle cars that were put into production that people simply loved to see and drive. It was always about style and power when it came to vehicles like these, but now they don't really exist all that much. Now the only thing we have that relates to the past muscle cars are the newer Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers due to their body style and amounts of power. However, these modern day vehicles are more considered as "pony cars" due them not meeting the direct specifications of a true muscle cars, which claim that a vehicle must be an American made 2-door sports coupe with a high performance engine that contains a lot of power. To be considered a pony car you simply must be a stylish vehicle that appears to have a high performance level, when you actually don't. Now personally I feel that the modern day Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers fit that bill, the Charger is more of a toss up due to it's fourth door.
There also tends to be confusion between sports cars and muscle cars as, people try to put theses vehicle into the same class. Unfortunately, there isn't any comparison at all due to the way the two vehicles are built and designed. Sports cars are generally equipped with lighter frames, smaller engines, and contain a much better since of handling than their counterparts. While muscle cars are generally heavier frames, bigger and powerful engines, with a greater emphasis on torque than on some of the other vehicles that exist. Now of course there are exceptions like new Corvettes and new Viper which have a great deal of power, but they fall short in other areas, because even some of the Mustangs have good handling but they lack the elite handling ability and light weight that sports vehicles posses.
