It's amazing how things change in only a few years. In 1998 I was a freshman in college and was thrilled just to have a 386. It wasn't a 486, but it was still good, along with a BJ-05 bubble jet printer that you had to load one page at a time. This wasn't a Pentium One, which had just come out, but it was better than my dad's Zenith computer.

By the time I was off to Alaska for my adventure in grad school, the N-64 was already fading from the pinnacle of video game experience, and my brother was going to a college that gave every student a laptop. It took me two years to get one, but as a student and a writer, I fell in love.

Don't get me wrong, I have my desk top system for the occasional gaming, but laptop and notebook computers are where it's at. This is the best place to find all your options of cheap computers, so please feel free to look around!
