Fun and Useful Products For Genealogists and Family History Hobbyists

I will admit it, I am obsessed with my family history. I have been researching my roots for over 30 years now. My favorite places to spend the day are cemeteries and dusty old libraries. Nothing gives me a bigger thrill than to find new and interesting information on one of my ancestors.

Does that sound like you or someone you know? We family researchers are not all stuffy types. We like cool stuff, especially if it is related to our research or can show off our favorite hobby in some way. Of course like anyone else we love gifts too! There is probably someone you know researching their roots because this hobby has greatly increased over the years because of the influx of data you can find on line about your ancestors.

It can be hard to find products specifically geared to genealogy. Some of the major data sites like Ancestry.com have stores but with limited selection. That is one of the reasons I love Zazzle. They are an on line store will millions of products by countless talented artists. That means their products are unique and will not find anywhere else. I have had my own store there (Art by MAR) since 2007 where I sell my artwork and vintage designs on numerous products.

I have pulled together a collection of really cool genealogy related products from Zazzle. The best part is the majority of these items can be customized. Upload your own pictures and add your own text such as your name in a few short steps. It is easy and fun!

Ancestry.com: One of the most popular Genealogy sites for finding records and information on your ancestors. They have millions of records, family trees, and other data. This is a pay site however they offer some databases for free. You can also try a free membership trial before committing.
Roots Web: This is a free database with a large selection of data. You can access the family trees at the World Connect Project, SSI Death Database, death records, marriage records, cemetery lists, obituaries, just to name a few.
Footnote: This is another site to find a wealth of genealogical records to aid in your research. It is a pay site however they offer a free membership where you have limited access to records. Also almost every month they offer one of their collections free.
Find A Grave: This is a collection of user submitted photos and data from cemeteries all over the world. You can search by name, geographic location or cemetery. It is all user submitted so be sure to verify the data found. However I have found photos of gravestones, photos of my ancestors and family information all on this site.
Creative Gene Blog: This is the Genealogy blog that hosts the Carnival of Genealogy. It is a great wealth of information and stories. Plus once a month the Carnival of Genealogy is published here. The carnival consists of other bloggers who submit their articles which center around a specific topic each month. You can read posts on the genealogy topics from up to 30 blogs in one spot.
Ancestor Chase Blog: This is my genealogy blog. I share tips on researching, pictures, and interesting stories on family history research.
