By utilizing the Internet to connect with the rest of the World, you can leverage your time and effort, setting up "systems" that work for you, rather than working hard so someone else (your boss) can take that extra trip to the Bahamas this Summer! Jerks...=)

With any "traditional" business model, there are massive overhead costs like facility rental, supplies, employees, training, shipping, equipment and customer service.

Not to mention the fact that even after starting the business, 99% of entrepreneurs have trouble keeping up with rent, utilities, paying employees, inventory, and the most important part: GETTING CUSTOMERS!

Just about anyone can do it! If you can read and write, you're half way there! The only thing left is having access to a computer and an Internet connection, but that's easy to overcome since it's free to use library (and other public) computers!
It's easy to reach everyone in the World with a computer! Rather than reaching a couple hundred people in one town, you can easily reach everyone who's interested in your product, service or information in the World that has access to the Internet. (This number is increasing at an alarming rate, and will continue to climb in the coming years as more and more people get computers throughout the World...)
There is very little risk! Rather than having to pay for employees, rent, inventory, and advertising, you can actually get started making money online with ZERO cost. (It's possible, though it might take longer. Don't worry though: if you want to get started quickly, you won't have to shell out $100's!)
The Internet allows you to set up an automated process that works for you! Every good business venture is designed to work for the entrepreneur, NOT the other way around. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case when starting a business. Whether you're looking to start a business to spend more time with your family, travel more, get a bigger house, take care of your bills so you can quit your job, or just get some extra spending money to have fun with, the Internet allows you to set up simple systems that bring in autopilot income for years!
It takes far less time to start: It's possible to be at a Six-Figure salary in your first year! Most "traditional" businesses take literally years to make a steady profit, and even then they require a great deal of work to maintain. The Internet breaks down the barriers for the "average" person like you & me, and gives anyone the ability to generate a very impressive passive income in a relatively short period of time. "But wait! Doesn't this mean I have to make websites?"

Ok, so maybe you already knew that the Internet is awesome, but you're wondering how this applies to someone who can't make websites.

Here's the deal: You do NOT have to make a single website to make $100,000+ every year for the rest of your life online!

There are plenty of ways to make money online, and many of them have nothing to do with making websites! The barriers have been torn down by regular people just like you and me, and it really is easy enough to start a business online that college kids are making more money online than they would from their jobs (I'm well on my way to this status, and I want to help you get there, too...)!

Selling: Make Money Online Option #1

Selling is the first thing people think of when any business comes to mind, because it's the most direct method for making money.

Selling products or services online can be VERY profitable, and there are countless methods to do so. Here are some 'classic' examples:

1) Buy goods at wholesale prices and sell them on eBay
2) Invent something and sell the idea
3) Create an eCommerce website and sell products
4) Write a book and sell it online
5) Sell your skills (graphics, web design, photography, etc.)
6) Create a membership site to build a community & charge a monthly fee

Most people go this route (selling), because it's as close to the traditional business models as possible.

However, due to the fact that these business models have high barriers to entry, and can be overwhelming to get started, it can be wise to look at other options before deciding on anything.

Advertising: Make Money Online Option #2

Many websites make all of their money by providing some cool service that a lot of people will use repeatedly, and putting "ads" on their pages.

Basically, there are two major ways this earns the website owner money:

1) The company looking for more exposure pays the owner upfront for a certain amount of ad space for a given period of time, similar to a newspaper or classified listing.

2) The advertiser pays a certain amount each time a targeted visitor CLICKS on the banner or link. This is called Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising, and it is typically done with Google Adsense. (When someone clicks on an Adsense ad, Google gets a percentage of the revenue, and that's why Google is banking...)

The trouble with this method to make money online is that the vast majority of people don't know how to make a website, let alone make something that a lot of people will use regularly.

Even if you do it's difficult to follow through with it and get enough traffic to your site(s) to make a steady income.

And that, is exactly why the 3rd method is my favorite...

Promoting: Make Money Online Option #3

Because it is difficult to get your own business started selling things, it might be a good idea to take a closer look at my favorite method for making money online: Affiliate Marketing!

What is Affiliate Marketing, you ask?

Have you ever referred a friend to something you found first, and gotten a discount, a coupon, a free lunch, or even cold hard cash?

The reason the company gave you something for referring your friend is because they didn't have to do any advertising or "work" to get that new customer.

Well, on the Internet there is a really cool, high-tech way to keep track of all this, and pay commissions on products: LINKS!

By giving you a special coded link, the seller can track that someone came to their website through your link, and if the person buys, you automatically get a percentage of the sale!

(By the way, I'm not talking about 2% or a couple bucks from a sale. I'm talking about setting up a page that helps a customer decide on the best product for them, and making 50-75% of the sale just because they bought after clicking on your link!)
