Coolest Guy On The Planet - SEO

Coolest Guy On The Planet is the search term Brad Fallon chose when he decided to test the SEO technique now known as "Google Bombing".

The now famous incident between him and Mike Filsaime at the casino was just the start of a long and interesting experiment with Search Engine Optimization techniques.

Different SEO and non-SEO players alike have had a turn at ranking on Page one of Google for the term "Coolest Guy On The Planet".

Some have tried cloaking, (that was shortlived), others have tried more traditional SEO methods such as articles, blogging and On-Page optimization combined with Linking stratregies.

Brad Fallon has remained at number one spot, and will so for a while I imagine.

Others have tried to beat him but that is not easy due to the sheer number of links pointing back to his site.

Lately I have noticed he has been adding the words Coolest Guy On The Planet to his posts. He must be a lttle concerned about maintaing perhaps the most famous SEO contest ever?

In my case I have a few blogs and pages devoted to this CGOTP mission. This has allowed me to maintain a page 1 ranking on Google for about a year.

Currently I have a page one ranking on Yahoo, MSN (Number one) and Google.

In fact on all search engines I have TWO coolest guy on the planet listings each on page one.

The changes over the last 12 months have been significant.

Google has now stopped the effects of "Google Bombing".

Google has changed from Keyword Density to LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing).

MSN - still loves keyword dense pages

Yahoo - Loves Blogs. Wordpress and Blogger blogs are really strong in there.

Squidoo Lenses race up the charts (hence my lens about coolest guy on the planet).

Social Web 2.0 tagging and group voting has come into effect. Viral swarming is also important.

Wikipedia now has no follow tags to stop spammers, as do many blog post comments sections.

Link exchanges have become less desirable and the old link swapping from link pages has become almost a waste of time.

So what does work?

I have made some different pages articles and blogs to discuss and test all techniques:

I started a Blogspot Blog about the SEO stuff at this coolest guy on the planet location.

My Wordpress Page about Coolest Guy On The Planet has some interesting on-Page SEO tips - James Schramko's Coolest Guy Planet page.

My Wordpress blog for my homepage has only a few links on it for Coolest Guy On The Planet however remains strong for search rank.

The most information of mine is located on my Blogger Blog that is on a sub folder of James Schramko.com called:
