Corby Rose Garden

Ranked #8,809 in Home & Garden, #137,488 overall

Every summer for the last ten years I have looked forward to the rose blooms of Corby Rose Garden, a city owned and operated garden, located in Belleville, Ontario's East Hill

The garden is located in a quiet section of town surrounded with ancient trees and homes. Were it not for the sign leading off a main drag most would probably miss it.

At the making of this lens the garden unfortunatly has suffered a beetle attack so the pictures I've added are perhaps not as beautiful as they normally would be. I hope to remedy this next year.

If you ever make it to this neck of the woods, and are looking for a place to stay, there is an affordable bed and breakfast right next door to the garden.

This lens is dedicated to one of my favorite summer destinations. If you are ever in the area I hope you will make it one of your stops.

A Philantropist's Gift

Corby Rose Garden was originally owned by a prominent business man named Henry Corby who moved to Belleville from England in 1832.

Over the years Mr. Corby and his family had been instrumental in encouraging and assisting Belleville in its growth as a community. A neighboring town that housed the family distillery was named Corbyville in his honor.

Corby Park, as it was titled, was donated to the city of Belleville in 1905.
