A cordless drill comparison to help in choosing the perfect gift.

Do you know what power tool to buy for the new homeowner, an average do it yourselfer, someone just getting heir own place or anyone that might just have a little work to do around the house? Cordless drills make an excellent choice as an excellent present for any of these types of people.

I've set up a little cordless drill comparison to help you choose the right cordless drill.

Two Black and Decker cordless drills for work around the house

Both have an Articulating Head and a hex cordless drill chuck

The first two are black and decker cordless drills that are ideal for work around the house. In fact the first black and decker cordless drill, the Black & Decker PD600 isn't classed as a drill, its called a power screw driver. This is the first drill I get when I have to do something like hang up a new light fixture.

The B&D PD600 has an internal 6-volt rechargeable battery. The drill has a 23-position clutch which helps prevent stripping screws
and offers a choice between high-speed drilling and low-speed driving operations. The handle pivots in three different for a range
of operating conditions. The PD600 has an LED light that I've found helpful in darker areas.

The second black and decker cordless drill is the Black & Decker XD1200K. It has a 12-Volt Ni-Cad (twice the volts = more torque), 1/4-Inch Hex chuck, a 24-position clutch for optimum control and a five-position swiveling head which lets you get into even the hardest-to-reach places. This drill is classed as a Drill/Driver Kit.

I recently built my mom a sewing table using this drill, I had a lot of drywall screws to put in, I was sure that this drill wouldn't have the power and hold a charge long enough for me to get the job done. I was wrong, at the end of the day I still had battery life left.

"Great torque and I find myself using it every day. This kind of product is becoming unavailable as the battery packs are taking over.
This is a good gift idea for any handyman."

"Can't add much to what's already been said about this fabulous little drill, but I'm a clueless middle aged female, and this little drill is a piece of cake to use. I grab it two or three times a week for one task or another. The articulating head --which I didn't think I needed -- has been a godsend. So far it is holding up well and holding a charge nicely. Lightweight and easy to hold. I honestly don't know how I lived without it."

Thanks to the economy I was able to do something I tried to do earlier in this century; get out of the printing industry.
