Hi, I'm Corey
I'm one of the guys on the Squidoo team, and here's my story.
Short version: I'm a husband, dad, community builder, instigator, geek, bassist and starter (and finisher) of things.
Long version: See below.
P.S. Please say hi!
I love creating stuff on the web.
I launched my first web project in April 1995, and I was immediately hooked. Since then, I've been helping people and companies figure out what to do online (and how to build it).
I love white boards, Google Docs, Basecamp, Evernote, Wordpress, Facebook, CSS, Github and lots of other geeky stuff.

I'm a community builder.
I love bringing people together, in person, and online.
In person, I started a cowork location in the historic old town in Winchester, VA. Now I work alongside some really smart, really interesting and really helpful people.
I started and organize Refresh Winchester, a monthly meet up for people interested in new media topics. Each month we have a speaker and a food sponsor. Food and learning!
Online, I run a content and community-focused site called No Treble, a fun project that combines three of my passions: bass, web and community.
And, Squidoo, of course!

I've been doing web work for 17 years.
Before that, I was in the graphic art field, all the way back to the pre-desktop days of traditional pre-press (aka paste-up). I was the third generation in my family to go into the field, so I had great teachers.
I led a catalog retailer to the web in 1995, and later became VP of the newly (and very web 1.0) named AnotherUniverse.com. We did millions in revenue with a unique contextual commerce platform. After I left, the company was acquired and later vanished. I'm still sad about that.
From 1998 to 2003, I ran a little web agency named Solutions Factory. We had a lot of fun, learned a lot, took our lumps and stayed alive after the web 1.0 bubble burst.
I still work/play right here at Squidoo, with one of the greatest groups of people I've ever been around.

I love WordPress.
(I'm referring to the software, not the hosted blog solution.)
I spend a lot of time working on sites powered by WordPress, and have been for about 7 years now. WordPress is remarkable software that keeps getting remarkably better with each new release. I love to say that WordPress makes me look like a smart developer. Between the simplicity of the code and the excellent documentation on the Codex (not to mention a handful of great plugins), it makes building a website really easy.

I've worked on projects for two of my biggest influences.
Jaco Pastorius...
In 2002, I designed and built the official web site for Jaco Pastorius, a site I managed until 2007. In 2003, I designed and produced the packaging for the Portrait of Jaco box set, one of CDBaby's 20 best selling CDs of all time.Seth Godin...
In 2005, Seth Godin picked 2 developers, a designer and me to help him architect Squidoo. I joined Squidoo as COO later that summer, and we built it soon after that.I play the bass.
I also play sax. A little guitar and piano too.
I'm a husband and dad.
Those are my favorite titles.
I've had a terrific education.
- Terrific parents, who taught me most of the things I use every day
- Jaco Pastorius
- Web 1.0
- Seth Godin, since 1998 (Permission Marketing)
- The WordPress Codex
- Volunteering
- Cari, Kayla and Sara (Lily too)
- Web 2.0
- Amazon.com
- The world's greatest 8th grade English teacher, who assigned me a different reading list than the rest of the class
- The Starfish and the Spider
- del.icio.us
- css Zen Garden
- A grandfather who taught me about the printing industry...
- ...and one who tells the greatest stories and seems to know something about everything
- Wikipedia
- University of Texas (briefly). Studied Music Composition
- North Texas State University (also briefly). Studied Music Composition.
I'm a coworker

I started a coworking space in Winchester, VA in January 2009, with the help of some incredible people.
Check out Bright Cowork.
I am a lensmaster.
Here are few of my lenses
I'm on Twitter.
But not very often these days.
Twitter used to be my favorite places to learn and share knowledge. If I have the time, I now browse more on Quora.

I have my own bobble head.
I love to read.
I really love to read...
I really really love to read.
No Treble
Nothing but bass
In 2009, I decided to launch a site that was the combination of my passions: web, bass and community. The result: notreble.com - a site by and for bass players.

- If it isn't a word, it should be, Teriann. Thanks for reading and for your kind words! I'm afraid the class didn't happen -- not enough enrollment. We'll try again (and I need to update this lens!)

- Hi Bill - it is true! Aaron (our lead developer) and Josh (our front end developer) are musicians as well. PHP isn't a cinch for me, but I have great teachers around me to help whenever I mess it up... which is often. But the journey is fun. Thanks for reading.

- Corey, you sound like a great guy and I like your bio lens.
I just found your addition to my lens A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN. I added another book to your list. I didn't know you could interact with other lenses. There is so much to learn on Squidoo! So glad you stopped by that lens....it really needs a little help.
Thanks for
