Hi, I'm Corey

I'm one of the guys on the Squidoo team, and here's my story...

(for more frequent updates, follow me on Twitter or check out coreyweb)

P.S. Don't forget to say hi!

You can call me a web architect.

I launched my first web project in April 1995, and I was immediately hooked. Since then, I've been helping people and companies figure out what to do online (and how to build it).

My passion is in information architecture, but I also dabble in design, spend a lot of time cranking out CSS and recently learned enough PHP and MySQL to start prototyping my own projects.

I love white boards, wikis, Basecamp, Evernote and lots of other geeky stuff. And I don't care that some people make fun of that.

I've worked on projects for two of my biggest influences.

Jaco Pastorius...

In 2002, I designed and built the official web site for Jaco Pastorius, a site I managed until 2007. In 2003, I designed and produced the packaging for the Portrait of Jaco box set, one of CDBaby's 20 best selling CDs of all time.

Seth Godin...

In 2005, Seth Godin picked 2 developers, a designer and me to help him architect Squidoo. He hired me as COO later that summer, and we built it soon after that.

Since 1995, I've been doing web work.

Before that, I was in the graphic art field, all the way back to the pre-desktop days of traditional pre-press (aka paste-up). I was the third generation in my family to go into the field, so I had great teachers.

I led a catalog retailer to the web in 1995, and later became VP of the newly (and very web 1.0) named AnotherUniverse.com. We did millions in revenue with a unique contextual commerce platform. After I left, the company was acquired and later vanished. I'm still sad about that.

From 1998 to 2003, I ran a little web agency named Solutions Factory. We had a lot of fun, learned a lot, took our lumps and stayed alive after the web 1.0 bubble burst.

I still work/play right here at Squidoo, with one of the greatest groups of people I've ever been around. I've been known to dabble in a few other projects, and I'm currently trying to improve my PHP skills.

I play the bass, but not as often as I used to.

I also play sax. A little guitar and piano too.

I'm a husband and dad.

Those are my favorite titles.

I've had a terrific education.

Here are a few of my lenses

I think they say a lot about me and the things I love

    Hey JaguarJulie,

    Thanks for the note!

My wife told me the bobblehead came from Whoopass Enterprises, but that's all I know (it was a top secret project).

And, I'll bite... why do they call a mother board a mother board?

A most interesting background -- how did you get your own bobble head? I'd surely like to get one of my brother. You know, it's thanks to Squidoo that I actually have learned a little CSS ... now I need to figure out what to do with it! PS Do you know why they call a mother board a mother board?

Hi Corey, I just found your lenses and I am totally blown away. I went to your CSS lens and found out more than I can read in a life time. Just spent the last two hours reading about coding. It got five stars and this one gets 5 stars. The CSS lens is lens rolled to to each of my other lenses.
