Hi, I'm Corey
I'm one of the guys on the Squidoo team, and here's my story...
(for more frequent updates, follow me on Twitter or check out coreyweb)
P.S. Don't forget to say hi!
You can call me a web architect.
My passion is in information architecture, but I also dabble in design, spend a lot of time cranking out CSS and recently learned enough PHP and MySQL to start prototyping my own projects.
I love white boards, wikis, Basecamp, Evernote and lots of other geeky stuff. And I don't care that some people make fun of that.
I've worked on projects for two of my biggest influences.
Jaco Pastorius...
In 2002, I designed and built the official web site for Jaco Pastorius, a site I managed until 2007. In 2003, I designed and produced the packaging for the Portrait of Jaco box set, one of CDBaby's 20 best selling CDs of all time.Seth Godin...
In 2005, Seth Godin picked 2 developers, a designer and me to help him architect Squidoo. He hired me as COO later that summer, and we built it soon after that.Since 1995, I've been doing web work.
I led a catalog retailer to the web in 1995, and later became VP of the newly (and very web 1.0) named AnotherUniverse.com. We did millions in revenue with a unique contextual commerce platform. After I left, the company was acquired and later vanished. I'm still sad about that.
From 1998 to 2003, I ran a little web agency named Solutions Factory. We had a lot of fun, learned a lot, took our lumps and stayed alive after the web 1.0 bubble burst.
I still work/play right here at Squidoo, with one of the greatest groups of people I've ever been around. I've been known to dabble in a few other projects, and I'm currently trying to improve my PHP skills.
I play the bass, but not as often as I used to.
I'm a husband and dad.
I've had a terrific education.

While I was learning CSS, I found that the best examples were scattered across the web. Over the years, I've collected a massive bookmark library, which I've consolidated into this lens. If you know of any resources you think should be added, please...

Joe Zawinul

I first heard Joe Zawinul when I was 14, on a couple of Weather Report albums. I think it was Black Market and Heavy Weather. Although his pop tunes like Birdland were catchy, I was more drawn to his other compositions. And Zawinul's...

iPhone vs. Helio Ocean

I've tested both the Helio Ocean and Apple iPhone recently, each for about a week. I wanted to love the Ocean, but it didn't work out for me. The iPhone is all I had imagined and more. I think the Ocean will be a fine phone for people...

It must be so gratifying to have been in on the building of Squidoo. Great lens. I enjoyed reading your story. 5*

Hey JaguarJulie,
Thanks for the note!
My wife told me the bobblehead came from Whoopass Enterprises, but that's all I know (it was a top secret project).
And, I'll bite... why do they call a mother board a mother board?

A most interesting background -- how did you get your own bobble head? I'd surely like to get one of my brother. You know, it's thanks to Squidoo that I actually have learned a little CSS ... now I need to figure out what to do with it! PS Do you know why they call a mother board a mother board?

Cool stuff. Into The Wild is a great book, I even got my husband to read it.
