How to Make Corn Slaw Salad

Ranked #4,172 in Food & Cooking, #79,485 overall | Donates to Food for Everyone Foundation

A Delicious Salad for Barbecues, Picnics, Potluck Dinners, and Family Gatherings

This corn salad recipe has all the ingredients of a complete one-dish meal for a family, but is best used as a side dish to bring to a barbecue, pot-luck dinner, picnic, or family gathering.

Corn is harvested in the late summer here in my home State of New Jersey, and I will brag a bit and say that New Jersey has delicious corn. Locals simply call it "Jersey Corn".

This recipe is best made the night before, or at least several hours before you plan to serve it so that the flavors blend nicely. Plus making a salad ahead of time means that you can make the salad when you can fit it into your schedule. Leftovers will last in the refrigerator for a few days.

Clear Bowl for Colorful Salads

As opposed to those with Mayonnaise

Here is a lovely example of the kind of bowl that would show off the beauty of a colorful salad that does not contain any dressing.

What Bowl Makes This Salad Look Best?

Choosing the Right Salad Bowl

Because there is mayonnaise in this salad, you may want to use an opaque bowl like the one pictured rather than a clear one...you can use a colorful salad bowl if you like for a more cheerful table. This will "hide" the mayonnaise that is on the sides of the bowl. A clear bowl is more suited to colorful salads, like your tossed, layered or fruit salads.

I'm looking for a side dish to bring to Thanksgiving this year, when we'll be guests yet again. I think I'll try this! Whether it ends up being THE side dish we bring doesn't matter; it sounds really good! And simple enough for me--who can't cook very well--to handle.

Thanks to all of you for your comments! It is really good, even better than it sounds and it doesn't sound all that bad:-) Give it a try sometime, so easy!
