Precision Parting

Parting The Hair for Stunning Cornrow Styles

Raz's RowsParting is as important as braiding for a beautiful cornrow or braided style. I have seen all kinds of things used for parting, from pencils to kabod skewers. The best tool for the job though, is called a rat tail comb.

Next, you want to have a supply of hair clips and hair safe rubber bands or ponytail holders to keep excess hair out of the way.

You should also mind the braid tension. You know you are braiding way too tightly when you've parted a zig zag, but you have a straight braid running down the middle. Once you've made your parts, respect them and braid precisely along them, rather than pulling the hair in spite of them.
