Corsets really are very attractive body shapers. You have done a wonderful job of explaining how they work and the various types available to consumers. Great article. Wishing you and yours a wonderful and peace filled holiday season. The very best of seasonal blessings.

I didn't know people still wore corsets! I enjoyed learning about the terminology and different kinds. I'll have to convince my wife to try one on.

Thanks for this great information on corsets.. I have always been fascinated by them!

I have a small waist comparatively to the rest of my body.. but this is amazing! I think the smallest it ever was was like 25 inches!

Lots of information for a corset newbie like me. I like the look but I just don't think I could wear one myself. :)

I have a custom corset, but it didn't cost hundreds of dollars. If you are going to do long-term corsetry, having a custom fit is better for you physically. If it's just for occasional fashion, ready-to-wear shoudl be fine.

I have always heard that you really haven't wore a corset, until you purchase a high end custom made one in the hundreds. I believe this is be true, since I have switched to the more expensive european hosiery, they feel awesome and last so much longer. I expect the same with corset's of high quality, they probably outlive you!

really nice lens - my compliments. looks like we have the same passion!!!
i lace down to 21 inch - maybe i'll make it once to 20 - it sounds easy, but for sure it will take a year to get used to a 20 inch corset.

    best greetings - corsetgirl

Fear not, Kimberly! Photo-retouching signs have been found many old corset pictures. And plenty of women talked about their corset sizes, not their actual waist sizes. You get a few more inches of waist if they aren't laced shut entirely.

I caught about 3 minutes of Gone With the Wind the other day... I cannot believe women used to get down to 20 inch waists! I'm pretty thin but there's no way. I'll take my curves. ;)

Thanks, Linden! I'm really excited as I have an art event coming up soon and I'll be doing a fancy period outfit with a corset for the first time in a while. Everyone stay tuned for the new pics!

It wasn't that long ago and the corset was the PREMIER symbol of the objectification/oppression of women, and in opposition to being objects, women burned their bras. Incredibly informative and thorough lens, of course. Another masterpiece by a fabulous lensmaster.
