    Awesome car, and history lesson. I've always loved corvettes of all types, years, and generations. There is just something special about owning and driving them. But this is well one of 12. Thanks for posting the pics and information!!!

    The 63 Corvette was a beautiful car indeed and I enjoyed the pictures of your brothers restoration of his Corvette. Cars today simply lack that wonderful style and pride in manufacturing! We had a little blue Corvair in those days. Sure wish we had held on to that little car.

    In its time, the absolute ultimate, was the Corvette Sting Ray;
    To match its explosive power, there wasn't another in the fray.
    Owning one was akin to making a statement of pristine style;
    Brilliant were the brains that designed it with imaginations fertile.

    Great Lens! My husband and I have been bitten by the Vet bug... We own a 77 classic mint condition vet. The car has been kept for show only, and has 2300 miles on it. We are having such fun with this car... There is nothing like a Corvette. Shar

    "They don't write songs about Volvos..." that cracked me up. No, they don't, and they don't make great cars like the early Vettes. Classic American icon. I love it.

    Great lens. Well documented. Great car. Very rare. Carroll Shelby's one of a kind 1966 Cobra 427 Super Snake went for $5,000,000 at the Barrett Jackson Auction in 2007. Depending upon how authentic this car is and how and when it's sold, it could also go for a surprisingly tall number also.

    Thanks for your response on my vette, the info on the Grand Sports from GM is limited at best! I did get a message from a individual that stated my car is the mold car for the roadsters--#12 of 12 repops, Instead of destroying the mold car they just branded it #12 and sold it, Its not the lightweight body because its 1/4" thick. BTW it's is a awesome car to drive!

    This very interesting and comprehensive lens on the rare and beautiful 1963 Corvette Grand Sport is something that I will definitely bookmark for future reference. Enjoyed the photos with captions and the great angle shots of this rare beauty.

    After reading this lens I have decided to take a day-trip to the Corvette manufacturing plant located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Last year, Governor Breshear made the Corvette the Official sports car of the state.

    Mine is a roadster as seen in the link.
    It is the one from Proteam that I bought.
    I have now put 2000 miles of fun on it and have had no issues, it sits beside a Duntov Lightweight , a couple of 63 FI Coupe's and the rest of the midyears 64-7

    A few conflicts here though
    12 of 12 then 53 of 124 ?????
    An Auto box?

    I would like to see some proof of authenticity

    I have car 53 built in Ohio titled as a 63 using the original 63 bircdage on tubular chassis that is also in the registery .

    We put the wheels on and hooker pipes to make it a little bit more of a hotrod and she shares garage space with a Duntov Lightweight Grandsport Coupe a 63 Z06 , Fuelie, 340HP and 300HP; yes I have an addiction.

    Nice car but it is a replica. There was never a grand sport "mold". it was an aluminum framed 63 with factory mods, and to be a roadster GM "duntov" chopped the tops off. to quote most corvette authorities "As Duntov was modifying Nos. 1 and 2 for Daytona by removing their tops". other things made them special specifically the 377 ci aluminum engine every thing together they weighed in under a ton.
    but replica or real they area a beautiful car.

    SWEET! WoW, very Cool.
    There is one thing however, the pictures do not show?, this would be the required driver restraint system...the harness. With the power, and handling of this "Vette"(GS no less), you must have a way of keeping your prized driver from becomming hurled out the side during extreme conering situations...no?.Great work, Beautiful car!.

    From a visitor: "Wow! I've got book about the Corvette Grand Sport and one of the model kits (as yet unfinished) of the car but you've got the real thing. Must be nice. Kudos to your brother for restoring this piece of automotive history. I hope I get the chance to see it some day. RC
