Breast Enlargement Comes of Age
It's difficult to believe that breast enlargement procedures were performed as far back as the 1800s, but given what we know today, women around the world are pleased that someone had the idea to try this procedure. There were many tries before arriving at something that worked, even if it was for a short time, including balls made of glass and a form plastic tube. But Practical medicine had to start somewhere!
Today silicone implants are enjoying their fifth generation with each of the last four making improvements on the one before it. Early problems included migration of the gel and leakage which could result in health issues. The current implant really grew in popularity outside of the US in the 1990s. However, it is quickly now becoming the favorite and is safer than all previous attempts. The implant owes its popularity to the silicone gel inside. It has adhesive qualities that resist migration and gives a more natural look. It has even been given the nickname "gummy bear" !!
