E.L.F. (Eyes, Lips, Face) cosmetics offers women the opportunity to have a nice variety of high quality cosmetics even if you don't have a lot of extra cash to spare. This is something that everyone can admit is amazing. Launched in 2004, e.l.f. is based in New York but has no official retail affiliation. There have been hoax emails that say e.l.f. had been bought out by Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's and that they are liquidating the products for only $1. There is no truth to the sell-out rumor, but the cosmetics really are $1. They will always be $1.




E.l.f cosmetics are able to keep this price so low because they do not pay for high priced advertising. They also choose to focus on the product rather than the packaging.



Another great thing about e.l.f. cosmetics is that you get to read reviews for every product before you buy it. These reviews are not made by e.l.f. or anybody trying to sell you something, but by the actual customers just like you who have really used the products. This will give you a good idea on whether the product will work for you or not.

Now let me get started explaining some of their products. We'll start with makeup that you use for your face.

All Over Color Stick




This is a 3 in 1 product, designed for your eyes lips or face and is available in four colors including: Pink Lemonade, Persimmon, Lilac Petal, and Toasted. From reading the reviews, I found that the most popular use of this is as a blush. Also, the most popular color is Pink Lemonade. Some of the bad reviews stated that it was a little heavy, and needed blended in really well. The positive reviews said that it blended right in and gave their face a great "pick me up". I guess it really just depends on the user, but for only $1 it is worth a shot if it seems interesting to you.



All Over Cover Stick




This product is made with all natural ingredients and skin polymers, designed to smooth the skin and cover problem spots. Can be used as a concealer for zits or under eye circles and also as a primer. Available in three colors: Fair, Light, and Medium. Reviews for this product say that it blends really well and covers imperfections flawlessly. It has also been stated "better than Covergirl". The cover stick evens out skin tone and hides redness and hyperpigmentation.



Natural Radiance Blusher


Infused with texturizing agents, this blusher will give your cheeks a nice, healthy glow. It is available in 6 colors: Shy, Glow, Coy, Flushed, Bronze, and Innocence. Reviews are pretty good for this product. Basically, the only negatives are that it didn't go on dark enough. A lot of people did not pick the right color for themselves, so be choose carefully when you order.



Shimmering Facial Whip




This can be used on your cheeks, eyes, or lips. This product is whipped and contains vitamins B, C, and E to smooth skin without a greasy feel. The shimmering facial whip is available in 6 colors including: Pink Lemonade, Citus, Persimmon, Camilia, Lilac Petal, and Toasted. It also has the Allure magazine editor's choice award and has been featured in Cosmogirl. It has very good reviews from buyers.



Tone Correcting Concealer



This concealer can be used to cover blemishes, under eye circles or dark pigmentations on the skin. It has a multi-silicon treatment that masks imperfections and redness, and leaves skin with a healthy glow. It has been featured in Glamour Magazine. The reviews for this products say that it is light-weight, glides on smoothly, and has a pleasant scent. The negative reviewers had problems with color matching. This can be a problem when ordering offline, but with the prices so low it is a risk I am personally willing to take.

My Personal Review
This product is pretty nice. Just as good as any other concealer that I've used. I use it under my eyes and over dark spots where I used to have acne. I does a pretty good job of covering up everything. It has a nice little wand, but I use a concealer brush to put it on to prevent germs from going into the tube. I have fair/light skin and I bought this in Fair. I could go for it to be a just a tiny bit lighter, but it still works just as well as it is.

My Personal Review

I was actually going to write a bad review on this, but that is until I realized that I was using it wrong. When I ordered it, I knew that it was a tinted moisturizer. However, for some reason when I got it, I thought that it was a foundation. It kind of looks like a foundation, but it is not. I definitely do not suggest using it as a foundation. :) I put way too much on because I didn't know it was just a moisturizer. It did moisturize my face really well though, especially in addition to the daily moisturizer that I already use. I ended up being a shiny mess. I would recommend it though. When used for its purpose, it actually works really well. Not too much color, but enough to make you look a little sun kissed. It applies really easily, making your skin feel nice and smooth. Overall really great value for $1.

Earth and Water Mascara Duo




This has both regular and a waterproof mascara applicators, one at each end. It is available in colors noire and brown. This is one of my favorite products. It really beats having to buy two different $5+ mascaras that just have to be replaced in three months anyway. It has had a few negative reviews that say it is a little difficult to remove. I personally have no problem removing it, but I do use an eye-makeup remover. This product was featured in Oprah's O magazine.



Brightening Eye Color




These 4 color quads allow for both a natural and a dramatic look. They have a corn silk forula that blends into skin and is long lasting. It is available in 9 different color options. My personal favorite is Nouveau Neutrals (it is the one in the picture). This quad really makes my blue eyes pop.

Natural Lash Kit




These lashes are easy to use and make your eyes instantly more attractive without being overdramatic. They can be reused multiple times and will last well long enough to get your dollars worth.

My Personal Review
This lash kit is awesome for only being $1. The lashes are just right and completely worth more than $1, however the glue that comes with the lashes is very hard to work with. I ended up having to buy another type of glue to use with the lashes, but even with the extra purchase of glue I came out cheaper than if I bought a set somewhere else. The glue is inexpensive and can be bought at WalMart or a beauty supply store.

Plumping Lip Gloss




This is two sided and infused with natural ingredients. One side is color and the other side is a clear gloss. They work to plump up your lips and make them full and kissable. It is available in 8 colors, Baby Doll is my personal favorite. All of the glosses have a minty scent. The reviews for this product are really good. This product really is a steal for $1.
My Review of Plumping Lip Gloss: This is one of my favorite lip products ever. The e.l.f. product is a ton better than a similar product that I recently purchased from Covergirl. The size of the tube is a little bit smaller than I expected, but there is still a lot of product, especially for $1. It is the perfect size for my pocket, where it stays most of the time. I use it everyday.


Luscious Liquid Lipstick




This product has some of the best reviews out of them all. It moisturizes and lasts longer than most lip colors. It comes in a twistable pen and is available in 8 colors. I own 5 of them and they all look fantastic.

E.l.f. has some of the best nail products I have ever used. They carry everything that you need for a perfect manicure or pedicure, including nail polish, polish remover, cuticle pen, nail block, nail file, toe separators, and a beautiful french manicure set. They even have vitamin E infused in their nail polish (available in 18 colors) to make nails longer and stronger.
