Instructor:
Our Learning Leader Training program gives qualified applicants the opportunity to learn how to create a learning culture filled with creativity, fun, skills, and fulfillment.

At Paul Mitchell Schools, we train our Learning Leaders to understand the value of a strong teacher-student relationship. We believe our Future Professionals are our most important clients. With that in mind, we train Learning Leaders to provide an educational "experience" for their students. Learning Leaders need to teach more than how to do a good haircut and provide competent chemical services. They must teach Future Professionals the values of self-esteem, respect, communication, relationship building, and more. Our Learning Leader Training program can help you become the teacher you always wanted when you were in cosmetology school.

Going Green at Your Salon or Spa

Helpful Tips on Going Green at Your Salon or Spa!

Paul Mitchell Schools are developing student-run Green Teams of their own. These bold, unstoppable change makers are turning their schools, communities, and the world into a cleaner, better place by implementing recycling programs on their campuses. Here's how they're doing it (and you can do it, too)!
Steps to Recycling in Your School, Salon, or Spa

1. Find the best areas in your business for recycling bins. Different areas will require different types of bins.

2. Types of bins you may need:
* Glass bins
* Garbage bins
* Plastic bins: Place a bin in your dispensary or Color Bar for plastic bottles. (Rinse all bottles before recycling.)
* Paper bins: Which parts of your business use paper? (Example: offices.) Find an area in those rooms and place reusable and recyclable paper bins there.
* Hair bins: To recycle the hair that gets cut throughout the day, place recycling bins on your clinic floor and send the hair to an organization that recycles it (such as Matters of Trust).

3. Find local recycling centers that will refund for recyclables. If your business is a school, the money should be put back into student-run programs and school activities.

4. Create a 30-day action plan/calendar with specific assignments and deadlines for implementing recycling in your organization.

No Learner Left Behind

The learning process should be fun and everyone%u2019s education should be special.

We All Have Multiple Intelligences:

The theory of Multiple Intelligence takes into account the unique talents and ways of knowing that we each possess. There are seven different intelligences, or ways that people process information. Most schools and traditional learning deal only with verbal linguistic (reading and writing) but we all have other intelligence: multiple intelligences. It is exciting and rewarding to identify our other natural intelligences, such as musical, math logical, body kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and spatial intelligence.

Unlike standard achievement tests that look at what we know, Multiple Intelligence looks at how we know. It starts with an assessment index that identifies each Future Professional's unique learning strengths. There are no right or wrong answers, only individual indications of learning talents. After Future Professionals complete the online quiz, they receive a "talent key" that outlines their dominant strengths (intelligences). By providing them with the talent key, we show students how they may best approach learning within our schools. Our Learning Leaders use the talent key to customize a curriculum and offer targeted instruction.

No Learner Is Left Behind:

Once their intelligence has been determined, Future Professionals have the information to make directional changes in their lives. The dominant intelligences listed on their personalized printout define the methods they most often use to process information and solve problems. These domains are their processing strengths and personal traits. Knowing their dominant domains assists them in choosing an environment for working and learning that accommodates their intelligences. Research has proven that it is essential for people to learn in an environment that complements their dominant domains for maximum career opportunities to occur. Customized curriculum addresses each Future Professional's unique way of learning in this current and proven method.

As a result of a Paul Mitchell Schools Multiple Intelligence education, Future Professionals gain knowledge and insight into how they individually learn and process information. With Multiple Intelligence, no learner is left behind.

Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions about Paul Mitchell Schools.

Q? What is the difference between a Partner School and a Corporate School?

A. All of our schools use the same curriculum, culture and systems, training and career paths for Learning Leaders, and marketing. The only difference is in the ownership. The Corporate Schools are owned by a group that includes co-founders John Paul DeJoria and Winn Claybaugh. The Partner Schools are independently owned and operated.

Q? How long is the course?

A.Most locations offer two options. Day school will take 13 months to complete and night school will take about two years. It's a big commitment and what an amazing career you will have when you're done ... and it's so fun here!

Q? When do I practice on a real person?

A.You will spend the first seven weeks in our Core program, when you will learn and practice on mannequin heads. After the seven weeks, we test you to make sure you are ready and then you will begin the Adaptive Course, in which you take guests and attend class each day.

Q? How will my day be structured? Will I work on real people?

A.The first seven weeks is the Core portion of your training. You will learn the basic fundamentals of hair cutting, color, and styling. At the end of this phase you will pass a series of evaluations, at which point you will become certified to work on actual clients in our salon. For the duration of the program, you will spend half of the day getting experience with clients, and the other half in class.

We Give Back

Paul Mitchell Schools donate their time and more than $2.5 million to charitable causes.

In conjunction with our own nonprofit organization, the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, we've built two homes through Habitat for Humanity; fed thousands of African orphans; provided resources for caregivers through the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation; provided hair care services for the poor and homeless; helped beauty industry professionals in the wake of natural disasters; and supported the victims of AIDS, breast cancer, homelessness, domestic abuse, and hundreds of other causes, to name just a few.

Color For The Cure!

Susan G Komen-You Color For Fun - Now Let's Color For The Cure!

You Color For Fun - Now Let's Color For The Cure!
Trend Setters Paul Mitchell Partner School is PROUD to kick off COLOR FOR THE CURE! For only $5,($8 for dark hair) you can receive a "ribbon" of pink in your hair and all monies will be donated to the Susan G Komen Fund! What a great way to raise money and have fun! Hundreds have already participated in this event! Schedule your cheer team; softball team; or church group.

Five-Year Total Tops $2.5 Million!

For the fifth straight year, Paul Mitchell Schools spent the months of February, March, and April raising money for their annual Magic of Memories campaign.

The popular "FUNraiser" culminated in a gala dinner featuring a live and silent auction and hosted by celebrities and representatives from the sponsored organizations. This year's event was held at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California, on April 26, 2008, and hosted by radio and TV personality Leeza Gibbons, Paul Mitchell CEO and Cofounder John Paul DeJoria, and Shawn King, chairperson of the Larry King Cardiac Foundation and wife of CNN's Larry King. Key supporters included Larry King, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, and special guest Larry King Jr., co-chairman of the Larry King Cardiac Foundation.

An emotional Paul Mitchell School Dean Winn Claybaugh proudly announced this year's grand total of more than $930,000. The figure shattered all previous records and brought the five-year total to over $2.5 million. The funds will be distributed to the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation, the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, Food 4 Africa, Sister Bonnie's Franciscan Haircuts from the Heart, the NCA Disaster Relief Fund, and Cut It Out.

Future Professionals and staff members at schools across the country held a variety of 'FUNraisers' for the selected charities. Emphasizing events that involve personal contact with contributors rather than letter-writing campaigns or other hands-off techniques, the schools focused on grassroots, dollar-by-dollar efforts like cut-a-thons, fashion shows, bake sales, raffles, "Casual for a Cause" days, and many other unique ideas.

The live and silent auctions held at the Magic of Memories dinner brought in another $62,000 as school owners and other guests bid for original artwork, a handmade quilt, hot air balloon rides, a week with Michael Galvin's "Believe" bus and its built-in hair salon, a stay at John Paul DeJoria's home, and other unique items. A highlight of the evening occurred when Leeza Gibbons and Shawn King "persuaded" Winn Claybaugh to make his singing debut. "I knew Winn would kill me because of the ambush," Leeza said, "except for the fact that we used the opportunity to generate about $15,000 in funding. Our auctioneer for the evening, Alfie Silva, suggested that Winn singing become an annual event and I'm all for it!"
