Why Hard Science Fiction Can be Relevant to Life Today
Ranked #42,794 in Arts & Design, #1,514,700 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund, Room to Read
Most readers can't see the relevance of speculative fiction
Books that allow you to see the relevance of Science Fiction in today's changing world. Titles willl change periodically as I find them and read them. All books will be personally chosen and read by me. Hard SF can give people a blueprint into the future, what could happen good or bad, and hopefully, allow them to channel their energies and research into areas that might prove to be a better choice in the long run. If most SF writer's feel that a certain path will lead to terrible consequences, then perhaps that path should be avoided or tred carefully. It can also be relevant in personal lives, as the struggles and moral dilemnas in both Hard and Soft SF allow one to see the moral questions from a new light, without all our preconceptions/upbringing that is built in, to influence us. It can broaden our horizons, make us better and more open to new things, and we can see the value of technology, while also seeing the problems with rampant technolgy (eco disaster).
