Cosplay has become pretty much a stable at anime, comic book, and science fiction conventions all over the world. What is cosplay? Cosplay is the act of dressing up as your favorite character or characters from your favorite movies, comic books, manga, or anime. There are a lot of people out there that scoff at this and call cosplayers geeks and such, but when you break it down and look at the artistry that goes into some of these costumes, you will be amazed at the talent behind them.

With all of the creativity and artistry that goes into these costumes, I think that they are ALL winners. So, to bring on the real issue of a Flickr Fight. You will notice that there are several categories of cosplay here. Each of these categories will have a monthly winner, so don't forget to vote for your favorites. The winner of each category will go into their own Flickr Plexo and you will then vote on your favorite among them.Each voting period will be one month. Thats right, it is a monthly contest. So, after we have five winners, those guys will go into their own little area and compete for over all winner. You will have a month to vote on that as well. This means that the winning photo will be featured for an entire month.
It is not an easy undertaking to find great cosplayers, so I am asking for your help. There is a "Contact Me" tab over to the right of this lens. If you have a suggestion for me, click that tab and email me a link to the cosplay photo. Remember, this is a family safe and work safe lens, so make sure the pictures are also family safe and work safe. The only other rule is that ALL photos MUST come from Flickr.com, keep this in mind and email away folks!
I look forward to making this a cool lens/contest. If any of you wonderful folks want to design me a cool looking badge to present to the monthly winners, I will greatly appreciate that too! In fact, if you put them on flickr then I will have a contest to pick the best badge and make sure to give you design vredit with a sweet little link to your flickr page!

Star Wars has become not just an American icon, but an international fan favorite as well. In this lensmaster's humble opinion, it is the first global icon, that possibly one day could identify us as a planet... okay, maybe not, but there ARE some great cosplayers out there that seem to think so. Vote for your favorite right here and remember that the pic with the highest number of points will square off with the winners from the other categories in the end to become the grand cosplay champion... well, at least for a month they will be.
