We chose Costa Rica for our honeymoon destination, you may too...
I recently got married to Laura Durrant on September 9th, 2006. When picking our honeymoon destination, it was a pretty easy choice. We wanted someplace tropical, offbeat, and inexpensive. We found all this and more in Costa Rica. On this lens, I'll share some of the tips we have from our experience as well as the countless pictures we took along the way.
Laura is also working on a book for brides who want to plan their own wedding. If you have the time, this is a great way to save money on your wedding that you can then in turn invest in an incredible honeymoon getaway.
Comeback often to see what I add. I will be updating every few days.

Where to eat in Puerto Viejo
Unlike the West side of the country, the Caribbean side is full of great restaurants
Our second favorite is downtown, Cafe Viejo. This place is a little more spendy, but the Filet in Varanoff Sauce will melt in your mouth. I have never had a more incredible meal than this one. Later in the evening, the tables get moved aside and this place becomes a disco as well.
For breakfast, there are three good choices, and it seems they are all open different days, so if one is closed, try the next. The top of our list would be Bread and Chocolate. The scrambled eggs here were done with a double boiler so very light and fluffy. For Laura's coffee, there was gourmet chocolate, and the croissants were great too. The second choice, Cafe El Rico, while it was hotter since it is off the water a bit and sheltered from a breeze most of the time, the staff is very friendly, and the food was very good and reasonable. They also have a laundry service, and rent bicycles and snorkeling gear. This place is run by an English Expat named Roger. The last place is Pan Pay. It is across the steet from the police station and overlooks the water. Pan Pay is known for it's Chocolate Croisants, Laura liked them, but I didn't care for them.
Most of the time, we would walk the beach into town in the morning, have breakfast, and then walk back to the bungalow for some time around the house or on the beach. Then about 5PM, we would walk the beach back into town for dinner, and take a taxi home. It was really a relaxing honeymoon which is great after all the wedding planning and the event itself.
