Cottage Pie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 500g beef mince
- sprigs of thyme
- bay leaf
- 2 chopped carrots
- tinned tomatoes
- tomato puree
- oxo cube
- worcestershire sauce
- 6 or 7 large potatoes
- salt
- pepper
- butter
- milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 190C.
2. In a large pan, fry the onions and garlic. Add the beef to brown. Toss in the thyme, bay leaf, carrots, tomatoes and puree. Stir.
3. Then crumble it to an oxo cube. Add Worcestershire sauce and pour an amount of water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Bring a pan of salted water to boil. Add the potatoes and boil until soft. Drain. Then mash the potatoes with salt, pepper, milk and butter.
5. Season with sauce and cover with the mash starting from the outside using fork.
6. Put into oven. Cook for 30 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
7. Serve with peas and ketchup.
