Countdown to Halloween - Quick and Easy Tips to Help You Get Ready

Tips to Help You Get Ready For The Best Time Of The Year

Halloween is a pretty busy time of year for many - deciding what costumes to wear, what makeup and props to buy, and what you need to prepare for that annual Halloween party. But preparing and getting ready for Halloween can be a painless matter if you and your family plan accordingly. We're here to help you out with that part. Here are some key things to remember when getting ready for that special, spooky day:

Treats: If you plan on handing out candy and other treats to Trick or Treaters, as is usually the case with most during Halloween, there are many options. You can mete out small prizes in place of sweets such as pencils, crayons, plastic bugs, tattoos, stickers, etc? If you do hand out pencils, make sure to leave them unsharpened, as they pose a safety hazard if sharpened. Of course, there's plenty of candy to choose from as well, the most affordable being the jumbo bags of assorted hard candy in place of the bite size candy bars that, while a Halloween favorite, can tax the pocketbook in terms of expense.

Shopping: If you need to head out to the store for some Halloween shopping, be sure to make a master list of the items you will need. This saves time and helps you to avoid making sudden impulse purchases that are usually unnecessary. Make note of the items and the stores in which they can be found. Making a budget is mandatory if your family really loves to celebrate Halloween, as going over the top is not uncommon, and the consequences aren't immediately known until you see your bank account balance following the holiday.

Decorating For Halloween

Decorations: Gather all your existing Halloween and Fall decorations, sort through them and get rid of any broken decorations or ones withered and shoddy from years of use. You can also set aside any decorations you no longer plan on using and donate them to someone or a charity. You'll also want to clean up your home and remove any excess clutter before decorating. When the season has passed, store your Halloween and Fall decorations together in labeled bins. You may also opt to include your Thanksgiving decorations in the same containers, as you can switch out your Halloween decorations with your Thanksgiving ones while putting your Halloween decorations away until the next year.

Costumes For Halloween

Costumes: When it comes to costumes, they require the most advanced planning, whether you're purchasing one from the store or a costume shop or crafting one from scratch. If you are making your own costume or ones for your children, be sure to give yourself enough time so that you are not sewing on tails or putting on any finishing touches at the last minute. You can better organize by putting a reminder notice on your calendar for next year to allow additional time for purchasing costumes or gathering the necessary materials for making them.

Some of the most fun costumes, at least in my opinion are:
Adults: the adult French maid costume, disco outfit and an the Evira costume.

For kids some of my favorites are: the Santa suit and costume. The reason why is that kids get such a big thrill being dressed up as old Saint Nick and Peter Cotton Tail. Video tape them walking around saying "ho ho ho" or passing out jelly beans.
