Top Five-Favorite Country Divas 2011, 2012
Ranked #1,934 in Music, #52,427 overall
My Five Favorite Country Divas
Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton,
Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood,
Trisha Yearwood
There are dozens of great female country singers sitting in high places but none that strike me as do these five first ladies of my country lovin' heart.
Their personalities and backgrounds are as unique as their voices and their ages span decades of music and incredible talent.

Patsy Cline

Patsy Cline is my favorite country music diva.
Patsy was born Virginia Patterson Hensley in Winchester, Virginia, on September 8, 1932 and was happily singing by the time she was three. Her first big break came when she won an Arthur Godfrey Talent program in 1957.
From there she grew quickly into a country sensation and by 1958 she had appeared at the Grand Ole Opry, began winning music awards and landed on top of the country music charts.
Sadly, when Cline was just 30 years old, she died when The plan she was in, along with some other country stars, crashed about 90 miles short of its Camden, Tennessee destination. There were no survivors.

For the Country Cowgirl in You
Hello, Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton makes me smile. Just by walking onto a stage. There's something so spunky and so ladylike about Dolly it is easy to become infected by her bubbly self.
If asked "who is the most glamorous of all female country stars" the easy answer is "Dolly Parton". She is the most glamorous of my favorite Country Divas and certainly the most interesting.
Dolly is known for her tiny waist, mega smile, and wild wig wardrobe. What some don't know, is that her generous heart is as big as her wig collection and she has been officially deemed "Queen of Country".
Dolly was born Dolly Rebecca Parton on January 19, 1946. She is still very married to her first and only husband of 45+ years, Carl Thomas Dean. Although Carl and Dolly have no children of their own they are deeply entrenched in love of family and privacy.

In November 2007 received the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service in recognition of her civic work in regard to children's literacy.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is a young lady beyond her years. Mature, pleasant, and impish, she naturally exudes sweet sexuality. She is fun and generous. She is gorgeous in her china white complexion and red lipstick.
For example, Taylor donated a pink Chevy pick-up truck that had been given to her by her record label, to a children's charity called Victory Junction Gang. That's a mere dot on the map of charity work accomplished by Miss Swift.
I like Taylor Swift, better than anyone in the teens-to-early-20's age range of new country artists. She is talented and pretty and unpretentious, a quality that I admire. Especially in someone who has seen so much success at such a young age.

Notable Taylor
Swift was awarded Songwriter/Artist of the Year in 2007 by the Nashville Songwriters Association International making her the youngest songwriter ever to win the award.
Carrie Underwood
On March 10, 1983 Carrie Underwood was born to Stephen and Carole Underwood in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Her parents couldn't know that in 22 years, their baby daughter would ultimately become the fourth season winner of American Idol.
They couldn't know that she would go on to become the most successful new talent to hit the country music scene in decades.
Carrie Underwood is the most elegant on my list of 5 Favorite Country Music Divas. I like her voice but I don't have her on my list solely because of her voice. She's there because she is one classy lady and a fantastic role model for younger girls. She presents herself as a lady, a class act that is hard to beat.

Notable Carrie
Carrie Underwood is a vegetarian and staunch supporter of animal rights. She was quoted as saying "If you told me I could never sing again, I'd say that was horrible, but it's not my life. If you told me I could never be around animals again, I would just die."
Trisha Yearwood
Trisha Yearwood (born Patricia Lynn Yearwood on September 19, 1964), is another favorite of mine.
Yearwood's personality is one of strength and confidence and it shows in her music.
Yearwood experienced great success during the 1990's Her name became a household one within a new generation of country/pop crossover artists and fans. She earned further recognition with the 1997 song "How Do I Live."
Trisha Yearwood's rendition of the song would help her win a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. She gained notoriety for recording a movie soundtrack of "How Do I Live" for the 1997 action blockbuster Con Air.
Yearwood continued to rise in the ranks of country music to a place of honor. She is still regarded today as one of the premier ladies of country.
