Courteney Cox is an American actress and former model, known primarily for her role as Monica Geller in the popular television series Friends.

She also played Lucy Spiller, an executive editor of a tabloid magazine, on the popular drama Dirt on FX Networks which has been recently canceled. She is currently starring in "Cougar Town" on ABC.

Courtney has also appeared in a number of movies, perhaps the best know is Scream, in which she stared with her future husband David Arquette. Courtney and David recently they were splitting up after 11 years of marriage.

Courteney Cox in a nutshell

Courteney was born in Birmingham, Alabama.
She attended Mountain Brook High School, where she was a cheerleader, tennis player and swimmer.
She dropped out of college after a year to pursue a modeling career, after being signed by the Ford modeling agency in New York City.
While modeling, she also took acting classes and worked to lose her southern accent.
She was first "noticed" as the girl asked up on stage to dance in the video "Dancing in the Dark".
She appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, but 1994 was her big year, when she appeared in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and started on Friends.
Other than the Scream franchise, she has not starred in any big projects since. "Dirt" on FX had promise but unfortunately, the network cancelled the show after the second season.
Her previous significant others include Ian Copeland and a long-term relationship with actor Michael Keaton.
Cox also dated singer Adam Duritz of Counting Crows and appeared in their music video for song "A Long December" in 1997.
Courteney married David Arquette on June 12, 1999.
On June 13, 2004, she gave birth to their first child, daughter Coco Riley Arquette.
Recently, Courteney announced plans to expand her family. The actress said she hopes to have a child through in vitro fertilisation despite battling post-partum depression after Coco's birth.
In recent years she has rejuvenated her TV career with "Dirt" and "Cougar Town".
