I have LOVED to read ever since I first learned how and it's tough to pick my favorite books.

Here's a list of wonderful books about the challenge of good and evil. A profound topic, but really fun reading thanks to brilliant authors.

And the author of this whole list is..... Stephen King.

His readers understand why. It's his non-readers that I want to reach out to and say Stephen King is so much more than the creator of thrillingly scary movies like Carrie or mini-series like It.

The Stand is a very obvious battle of good versus evil. It's difficult to always know which end is up, the heros are complicated and the bad guys aren't always purely bad - just like real people in our lives. This is one of the best books ever written and I've read it several times.

His newer works like Lisey's Story and Hearts in Atlantis continue to explore profound themes that both entertain you in the short term and leave you a richer and wiser person in the long-term.

I think Charles Dickens made such an impact on our society because he wrapped his important thoughts and messages in an entertaining package. So they were read by many more people than they would have been otherwise.

In fact, Stephen King's The Green Mile was originally released one chapter at a time, just like Dickens did a century earlier.

And if you're just not a reader, I have four things for you to watch and love: Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption, The Stand and the tv series Kingdom Hospital. Try them, you can thank me later.
