Welcome to COVENANT HOUSE

Covenant House provides shelter and services to homeless and runaway kids. Covenant House's Mission is crisis care - any youth under 21 can receive immediate help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Our doors never close.

We don't wait for kids to come to us.  Covenant House Outreach staff in vans, on bikes and on foot cruise the same streets as the kids from late at night til early in the morning.  Offering food and hope, our counselors and volunteers reach out to kids where they need help the most.

Mike

Our outreach team came across Mike wrapped in a tattered old blanket sitting on the street corner after midnight.

He told us he had been released from the hospital a few days before and he still held the plastic bag they gave him for all his earthly possessions.

Mike was starving. He hadn't eaten since his discharge and his eyes lit up when we offered him sandwiches and juice. He ate two sandwiches and placed a third carefully in his bag. He was afraid to come in the van with us to come to the shelter but we made a connection.

Now that we know he's there, our van staff will look for him when they go out at night and hopefully he will take the big step to trusting us and come back to the safety of our crisis center.

Mike is out there and desperately in need of so much help. We have to keep doing all that we can to help him to trust us. Then maybe he can take the steps towards believing that his life is worth something more than dying anonymously on the streets.

There are all too many kids like Mike on the streets of our cities. Together with people like you, Covenant House is able to seek them out and offer them hope for a better future.

Thank you for your interest in Covenant House

Covenant House provides shelter and service to homeless and runaway kids. We were incorporated in New York City in 1972 and have expanded to over a dozen cities in the U.S., Toronto, Vancouver, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua.

We've provided direct services to over one million kids in those years. As long as they need us, we'll be there, but we look for a future where Covenant House is not needed and our young people are valued by their families and communities.

In addition to food, shelter, clothing and crisis care, Covenant House provides a variety of services to homeless kids including health care, education, vocational preparation, drug abuse treatment and prevention programs, legal services, recreation, mother/child programs, transitional living programs, street outreach and aftercare.

Some 70,000 kids are touched by Covenant House programs each year.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these great kids.

Help a kid at Covenant House get a good meal

Covenant House is the largest privately-funded nonprofit agency in North and Central America providing shelter and other services to homeless, runaway and throwaway youth.

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to Covenant House from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.

Diana Ross asks for help for our kids

Diana Ross calls Covenant House a builder of bridges

Tony-Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Diana Ross joined Covenant House President Kevin Ryan on stage in New York City on June 2 offering her support after homeless youth being helped by Covenant House performed the show-stopping song "One Day at a Time." The benefit raised funds to provide food, shelter, clothing, educational opportunities, job training and counseling for homeless teens. Ms. Ross called Covenant House a builder of bridges and a place of shelter and hope for children in need. Watch the teens' performance at this event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=335lVx2tDrQ ____
