What to look for in travel insurance
Its a well known fact that 75% of people who buy travel insurance cover don't read the terms and conditions - the one really important document that they should read, which contains all the policy details and the level of travel insurance cover.
Terms and conditions -
Most travellers believe that their travel insurance cover automatically protects them from all medical expenses, accidents, delays or lost baggage. Unfortunately, this is not always the case - Our advice is that travellers should read the terms and conditions of their travel insurance policy very carefully.
Pre-existing medical conditions -
Most travel insurance policies will not cover any pre-existing medical conditions a traveller might have, therefore it's important for them to purchase travel insurance which covers them for these conditions. Most pre-exisiting medical difficulties are usually covered by an additional premium. It might seem like unnecessary expense, but if the holiday-maker or travelling businessman needs to make a claim, the excess that to pay will be a small fraction of the actual cost if there was no pre-exisiting medical travel insurance cover in place. Furthermore, if a travel insurance policy has an excess waiver, the claimant will have nothing to pay!
Dangerous activities!
The more dangerous risks taken when travelling will lead to higher travel insurance premiums. Most standard travel insurance cover won't cover activities such as jet skiing, mountain-climbing or hunting. So, for those who enjoy the thrill of dangerous activities, they need to make sure that their travel insurance covers everything that they intend to participate in.

Baggage PIN
What's that...?
"More than 5.5 million bags went missing among the 24 AEA members in 2006 -- an average of 15.9 per 1,000 passengers."
- Source: Reuters.com April 2007
What is Baggage PIN?
BaggagePIN is a unique web system that identifies the owner of lost baggage in a matter of seconds, enabling the speedy return of lost baggage to the traveller.
How does it work?
If baggage belonging to a member of the BaggagePIN scheme is mislaid or lost in transit, the baggage handling agent can enter the unique BaggagePIN code number into the web-portal and the system will instantly identify the legal owner of the lost baggage. The owner then will be contacted by (SMS), landline phone, e-mail or letter.
But, surely the Airline will assist me with this?
Sadly not, as baggage is only labelled with flight details, not to the individuals contact details it belongs to, thus millions of pieces of luggage go missing each year and never find their rightful owners.
Buy ANY travel insurance policy from Cover My Travels and get one year of BaggagePIN membership for just £9.00 (usual price £12.00)!
