Second Hand Music

Cover songs are simply performers offering a newer rendition of a previously recorded song. Throughout the history of music there have been cover versions, some made the performers famous and some didn't.

In-fact some of the most legendary performers in history had their fair share of cover releases, they just took them to a higher level than the original recording. With each new generation of musician I hope the trend continues, as it is often a pleasure to hear new interpretations of earlier music. Musical idols such as Led Zeppelin and Michael Jackson have also covered music from other artist and that in no way negatively impacted their brilliant legacy.

I personally view cover versions as more of a tribute than anything else as it has been said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but in some instances the cover version turns out better than the original and launches new careers.
