Everything Pugs: Pugs are one of the older breeds of the canine presumably around since approximately 150 BC. Pugs are also believed to be related to a much larger breed called the Mastiff which also inherits many of the same characteristics such as fawn coat and curly tail. The Mastiff however; is a far larger breed canine with a larger snout. In the past pugs were known to be related to royalty; often seen in portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince William. More recently Pugs have been used for talent shows and tricks. In addition; pugs are excellent house companion dogs. Pugs tend to come in three types of colors: black, fawn, or a mixture of both. While some believe that pugs are related to bulldogs they are quite mistaken. Unlike bulldogs; pugs are a dry mouth dog thus they do not drool. In addition; pugs have a curly tail and a more wrinkled body. At full grown size the pug is approximately 1 1/2' long x 8" high weighing approximately 15-22 pounds. Pugs are very rambunctious animals offering years and years of fun and games. Pugs are excellent with children. Some of most favorite games that a pug enjoys are chase and hide-and-go-seek.
