Good to see this. Things have changed in the way they do some of the things, so I'm glad I saw this. Do they have one for cats? The man didn't show it very well on the cat video.
  • ChrissLJ Jan 22, 2012 @ 9:01 pm | delete
Thankfully this was something they covered in Puppy Kindergarten, though I learned it a little differently. I haven't had to use it yet **knocks on wood**, but I have had to dig something out of my dog's throat when she started choking and was unable to dislodge it herself. Luckily we had both trained for emergency situations and she wasn't frightened more of my fingers going into her throat.

Thanks so much for this lens. Our faithful pooch, Shadow, is 11 years old and beginning to have a few health issues. When my husband had two heart attacks I knew what to do. In fact the nurses say my quick thinking may have saved his life. But if something happens to my dog? That information isn't as readily available. I can't tell you how much better I feel knowing what I can do. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

What a good idea for a lens. You never know whose best friend you saved. Just in case anyone is in this situation, we used to raise show dogs and sometimes the pups would be born with no apparent life. If we took a towel and vigorously rubbed their sides they would soon come around.

    Hey JohannTheDog!
Well, I could only be a huge fan of your lens. We actually have one of the same CPR videos from Pets America on our main lens at http://www.squidoo.com/petbrags. Since your lens is so popular (well deserved!), should I remove the video and just add the link to your lens? Or maybe it would be better for all pet kids to leave the video (your thoughts?) Regardless, I will add your lens link to our page. You have some great info. here. Is that okay with you? As I said already, great lens, awesome topic - - a BIG 5 STAR from me!
    Best Regards,
    Jen

As a pet owner it is important to learn these and other first aid techniques. Would you not do this for any other valued member of your family.

Great lens! People don't probably think about giving CPR to their dog. If it can save thier life though it is worth it. If people care about thier dogs health, it is something to look at for sure.

Great lens! The video is really helpful. I've heard stories of many dogs choking on balls/toys that are a bit too small.
