Crunchy Cracker Recipes
Crackers are a great crunchy snack or appetizer. They are perfect with cheese or crumbled into soup. Find some great recipes to make your own crackers such as herb, whole wheat, vegan, cheese or plain crackers and watch a how to video about how to make homemade crackers. My personal favourite are herb crackers with basil and thyme.
Herb Cracker Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of margarine or butter
1/4 cup of milk
1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
Directions
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, basil, and thyme. Mix in the butter or margarine until the mixture is crumbly. Add the milk and stir until it forms a solid ball.
Knead dough on a lighlty floured surface.
Roll out the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness and cut into cracker sized pieces. Makes about 24 crackers.
Bake at 400 for 10 minutes, after 10 minutes turn them over and bake for another 5 minutes.

Whole Wheat Cracker Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/3 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 cup of margarine or butter
3/4 cup of buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Directions
Combine the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cream of tartar. Mix in the butter or margarine until the mixture is crumbly. Add the buttermilk and knead dough.
On a lighlty floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/16 inch thickness and cut into cracker sized pieces.
Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
