Tools and Supplies For Basic Floral Designing

I spend a lot of time crafting, so it's only natural that my house is filled with a trainload of tools and supplies. That's what happens when you are an artistic soul like myself!

The fact that you are reading this lens tells me that you have a keen interest in using floral designs to beautify your home, and you may also be looking for some help in knowing which tools and supplies you need to buy.

This lens is a shopping list, and is best used in conjuction with the lens I built to teach you how to make a floral swag. If you have any questions about any of my tips and how-to's, feel free to post them in my guest book. I'll be happy to try and encourage you in your quest for creating your own beautiful floral arrangements!

Now, let's go shopping...

Use a Serrated Knife For Cutting Foam

An electric knife is nice to have if you intend to do a lot of floral designing

Greening Pins

Use moss to cover the foam before you begin arranging, greening pins hold the moss in place

Glue Gun

You don't need an expensive glue gun for floral arranging... I typically use a Surebonder

Hot Glue Sticks - I Prefer the Longer Glue Sticks Simply Because...

I can work for longer periods of time without waiting for a fresh glue stick to reach it's optimal temperature

Hot Glue Drips Can Damage Your Work Surface

Use a hot glue pad to catch the drips, and make it easier to clean up once you are finished playing...errr; I mean working!

Use a Mini Skillet and Glue Chips For Large Projects

Dipping is more effective than a glue gun when you are working with large flowers

Hot Glue Cubes

This little trick makes me feel like a pro, because I learned to use the skillet during my time working in a flower shop!

Maximize Your Crafting Budget

Kitchen skewers wrapped in floral tape are sometimes less expensive than tradtional floral picks

Skewers - 6"
