Sharing Of The Gifts We Are Given

Part of the joy of crafting is being able to share the finished project with someone we love. An extension of sharing that loving effort is to share our crafting efforts with those in need.

With the economy in its current state, many charities are left needing help financially. I pray we can come to their aid, each as we are able. Remember the story of the Widow's Mite.

Another way to share is to share from what we have. There was a news story last night of a local food bank here that has run out of food. You know what? I can share mine. Every little bit helps.

A third way to help is the focus of this page, to use our crafting abilities to offer comfort and hope to those in need.

But What Can I do?

As crafters, there are literally hundreds of projects we can make for thousands of charities in need. We can pick from one to as many as you can handle. Just please don't over-promise to the point where you can't deliver; that hurts more than it helps.
  • The sick and elderly can use afghans, lap blankets, pillows, wheelchair totes and walker totes
  • Babies and children could use preemie caps and clothing, blankets and toys we can sew, knit or crochet.
  • Animal shelters can use snuggle blankets, pillows, and beds (as well as your donations of towels and blankets, money and other items - contact your local animal shelter to see what they need).
  • The terminally ill and the bereaved appreciate prayer shawls, prayer beads and handmade rosaries.

When I started, I actually had to *FIND* my craft room!

I had one serious stockpile of yarn, fabric, and all manner of craft supplies stacked everywhere! Every surface was stacked high. The floor was covered; the closed overflowing. It's still hard to walk in there, but I'm slowly continuing to work through the stashes. LOL!
