Craigslist is hotter in some areas than others for sure. California and the west coast are really into it big time.

What do people advertise on there?

Everything from household services, banking and credit offers, Pets, Vehicles, old stoves, you name it.

Now craigslist doesn't want a ton of businesses posting ads all over the site so they have built in filters that check each ad on the fly before it goes live. This means you have to find a way to get your ads up. It is easy when you learn the tricks.
