Crafting Christmas decorations can be so much fun...

In my home we have a great Holiday tradition, I would like to share...
On Thanksgiving Day, after the feast has been devoured, and dishes are done, and all in the house appears to be tidy again . Oh -and the men are in front if the TV watching football...

The ladies proceed to pull out the cranberries, toothpicks, and bows, and anything else we might need to craft our yearly festive Holiday cranberry wreath.

We have a great time with this tradition, plus we all end up with a wonderful fresh one of a kind seasonal decoration. That I might add, dries slowly, and last long into the winter, until you decide to take it down.

After the Holiday, I remove the bow, and wire a few cinnamon sticks to the wreath, change the bow to natural raffia - it makes a charming decoration in the kitchen all winter long.

Below are the simple instructions - I hope you'll enjoy crafting a cranberry wreath for your home or perhaps giving one as a sweet handmade gift.

The wreath is easy and fun to make! It will add Christmas cheer to where ever you hang it...

Item's You Will Need To Have On Hand

You can purchase these items at any craft store

Styroform Wreath - rounded top flat back
wooden toothpicks
cranberries
red craft paint
small sponge brush
ribbon to fashion bow

Styrofoam wreath

Start your project by painting your Styrofoam wreath red. Let it dry completely. The red paint will stand to cover any visible area's that the cranberries don't completely cover.

Red Acrylic paint

If you have completed the first step, and your wreath is dry - its time to start making your cranberry wreath...

Wooden toothpicks

Cut the toothpicks in half. This step is pretty easy... I told you, this project is so easy!

Fresh Cranberries... Time to stab the cranberries

Remove any soft cranberries. Then its time to stab each cranberry with a toothpick, make sure you don't stab it clear through...

Know its up to you to add the cranberries to the Styrofoam wreath. Its up to you if you wish to add them row after row - as the picture shows or you can opt to add the cranberries in a sporadic pattern. Both look wonderful.

Great Big Bow...

Its time to get creative. You can make your own bow or buy one already made up for you. You can wrap a length of ribbon around the wreath with bow at base, this will make it easy to hang the wreath over a door or mirror - you name it.

You can also add other item's such as a bit of holly, gold twine, use your imagination...

Hey! Here Are A Few Fun Holiday Reads ...

The Christmas Tree Legend
The Christmas tree is no exception to this rule. It is pagan, not Christian in its origin, though it has been adapted to Christian uses. It came down to us from the pagan Teutons and Scandinavians, and on the way it was Christianized in Germany and Holland, in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, long before it had been made holy in the same manner among the English-speaking peoples... Holiday Speeches - Christmas
Great old article published in 1909--

"The Day of Good-will-to The Cold Weather with-out and the Warm Hearts within-to The Christmas Tree, which grows in a Night and is plucked in the Morning by the gladdest of fingers-to The Day in which Religion gives sweetness to Social Life-Christmas Gifts; may they bless the Giver not less than the Receiver-to The Oldest of our Festivals, which grows mellower and sweeter with the passage of the centuries-to St. Nicholas [or Santa Claus], the only saint Protestants worship-to A Merry Day that leaves no heart-ache-to A Good Christmas, may sleighing, gifts, and feasting crowd out all gambling and drunkenness."
