Benefits of Crate Train Puppy

I would like to share with you how I crate train puppy and the benefits in doing so. The type of crates in the market and benefits in having your puppy crate train.

A crate is a home for the puppy or dog when used properly. I have used different type of crates for my dogs and for different purposes too.

I believe a crate is definitely essential when you have your puppy as it would give it a sense of security. You may put an old towel or one of your old T-shirt inside the crate for its comfort. Importantly, the crate must be big enough for the puppy to sit up and move around inside it.

Train your puppy to sleep in the crate and it can be also used as part of your potty training. The puppy is unlikely to mess up the crate as it is its home.

However, please do not put your puppy in the crate the whole day but only when it sleeps at night or when it is raining with thunder or lightning.

Use a treat to lure it inside the crate and at the same time, you can teach him the 'COME' command.

Here is a photo taken of Jack my beagle puppy on his first night home. This crate can be opened into 2 halves. Jack is a crate train puppy since he became a member of our family.

Crate train puppy will benefit both the puppy and its owner too.

Jack the Beagle just Loves Crates

Hi,
We bought a new crate for Ruby as the old one was giving way.

This new crate is slightly smaller but still fits Ruby the Corgi.

Surprisingly, Jack likes to use this new crate for his nap during the day though it may be slightly smaller. We think he finds it more cosy than his big crate....ha...ha...

Luckily, Ruby does not mind sharing her crate with Jack!

As you can see, Jack uses all the available crates during the day and night but Ruby prefers to only go into her crate at night.

Whatever their preferences, we feel it is important to crate train your puppies and dogs.

Jack still using his old plastic crate

Jack is 10 years old now but he is still attached to his old crate eventhough I have bought a bigger one for him.

He still like to go into this crate for a nap on and off, though it is more meant for Ruby my Corgi to sleep in it at night.

Ruby and her 2 Crates

This is a short video clip on how well Ruby has been crate train since her puppy days.

Ruby the Corgi & her 2 Crates

I have 2 crates for my corgi, Ruby. I put Ruby into the metallic and open-air crate when we have visitors. If it raining lightly, she also goes into it else she would run wild in the rain and get herself wet. If there is thunder and lightning, she will go into the covered crate for comfort and security. She also sleeps in it at night and I bring her indoors too. Ruby is well trained and she goes into her crate when requested. Jack in his new crate

This is Jack's new and much bigger crate but he still likes to go to the smaller one to have his afternoon nap at times.

Luckily, Ruby does not mind sharing the smaller crate with Jack.

The crate really gives them a sense of comfort and security.

Plastic crate

This is one of the most common crates that are used to house a puppy or dog.

There are different sizes but I bought the biggest size so that I need not have to change or buy a new crate as my puppy grows.

This particular one in the photo is certified for air travel and quarantine purposes too.

Make sure that this type of crate has sufficient ventilation for the puppy especially if you stay in countries with hot weather.

The metallic gate can be removed easily.

This crate is also good for travelling; eg. put your puppy or inside the crate and placed it at the back seat of your car.

Ruby going into her crate for the night

Ruby has this habit of sleeping in her crate at night. If it is raining with thunder and lightning, we would bring the crate into the house else we may just leave it outside.

Ruby The Corgi, Going Into Her Crate For The Night

My Corgi dog, Ruby, comes into the house and goes to her crate for the night daily. She enjoys the comfort and security of her crate indoors. If it rain overnight, Ruby would go crazy and run in the rain barking...? She goes into her crate voluntarily and I never have problem with her. Open metallic collapsible crate

This is very handy to use inside or outside the house.

I put Ruby into this crate when I have visitors or when I feed her as I have another beagle dog.

I use it more to restrict her movement rather than her sleeping area.
