Crate Training Your Puppy

Crate training makes it easier for the dogs when they need to travel, or stay in a hotel, stopping them from chewing on the furniture or eating any poisonous or dangerous items.

The crate is your dog's room, keep in mind that the crate should be large enough for your dog to stand up and turn around in. Dogs are social animals so you should place the crate in a room where you guys tend to hang out e.g your family room. Crate training can be a fun and social for you and your dog. Think of it as giving your dog or puppy their very own room.

What is crate training?

Is crate training for your puppy?

Most dogs need their own space, pretty much in the same way as humans do. Crates are the equivalent of an indoor kennel for dogs, they satisfy a need for a den like enclosure and a safe place. Crate training is also really useful for house training your new dog or puppy, you see dogs have a natural instinct to not soil the place where they sleep, so if you place them in a crate, they tend to hold it in until they are let out again. It can also help reduce a dogs anxiety when they are separated from their owners, as they have a special place of their own to feel safe in. Kind of like little kids and their security blankets.
