Creepy Crawly Things, Like Bugs
Potato Bug
Their legs are slimy, sticky, and they want to eat you. Well, that's how I feel every time I see one of these ugly things. I remember when we had a good rain, my son and I found a whole bunch of these along the street. I believe the wind (storm) picked them up. We had never seen so many in one place.
Flies, I believe, are the ones I hate most. If they get in the house, they will get into anything. They are nasty, dirty things.

It is Mightier than you or me
Don't you just hate something you can't see. Mites come to mind, especially dust mites. What do these guys want anyway. I understand that there are as many different mites as there are insects. That's hard to imagine. Chiggers come to mind. Chiggers spend most of their lives in cracks in the soil. They are typically found in rural, less disturbed areas, but can persist for years on soil in new subdivisions.mighty mites

No reason not to try some thing (bug) new. Just add a little crunch to your salad or a little movement to your soup. Great for those cold nights when you need a little kick!

The most wholesome source of protein on earth cannot be found in any supermarket in the United States, but it can be found right in your backyard! Insects have been a staple food of almost every indigenous culture, not only because of their delicious flavor but also because they provide a more complete protein than soy, meat, or fish, and are concentrated sources of calcium, niacin, magnesium, potassium, the B-vitamins, and many other nutrients. As the world heads for food shortages in the next century insects can help meet humanity's growing nutritional needs.

How Well Do You Know Your Bugs?
Here is a little quiz to see how well you know your bugs.
Crickets Are Bugs Too
Singing
Dorothy Aldis
Little birds sing with their beaks
In the apple trees;
But little crickets in the grass
Are singing with their knees.

Link Along With The Bugs
Assassin BugThey use the long rostrum to inject a lethal saliva that liquefies the insides of the prey, which are then sucked out. The legs of some of these bugs are covered in tiny hairs that serve to make them sticky to hold onto their prey while they feed. The saliva is commonly effective at killing substantially larger prey than the bug itself. Wikipedia

Bee Sting or Wasp?
I read recently that you could use baking soda and vinegar to treat bee and yellow jacket stings. However, I don't remember which is which. But checking into Medicine Net , they indicate it is very dangerous and more urgent measures should be taken. They gave the following article:Most bee and wasp stings can be treated at home, but some cases require medical attention. If there is any suspicion at all that a person is having a systemic allergic reaction, seek immediate emergency medical assistance. Signs that a person may be having a systemic reaction include widespread hives or rash, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and swelling in the mouth and throat areas. If a person is stung by an insect whose sting has previously caused an anaphylactic reaction, he or she should also access emergency medical care even if no symptoms are present.
