My Favorite Author: Dean Koontz including "rare books written by Dean Koontz"
My favorite author is Dean Koontz.
I was hooked after reading "Watchers", which is my favorite. I love how he captures you from the first chapter, and delves into the story of each character so well. He leaves you wanting more as he switches to another character on the next chapter, and keeps you reading and reading all night long.
In Watchers there was good verses evil. There is connections and relationships between all the characters. There is a golden retriever that I fell in love with, as so did the main character.
I love "From the corner of his eye" too! Such a magical gift the boy has! Would that be wonderful, to just be able to do that? (Can't say any more, I don't want to ruin the book for anybody else...a must read if you love Koontz...or even if you don't!)
"Lightning" was great", I remember loving the excitement and mystery in this book. Made me think a lot and wonder. I need to read it again soon as it has been a while.
I just finished reading "The Darkest Evening of the Year". Which was wonderful too! I see a trend here, I love the books with Golden Retrievers in them. They are such loving, gentle dogs almost human in nature.
My son loves all the Odd Thomas series, they are his favorite! There are some great links below, to the Dean Koontz websites and to Odd Thomas pages.
I have a large collection of his works. In including a signed hardcover of "The Husband" that my son bought me last year. Yes, I cried when I opened it!
I'm including links on ebay to some of his rarest books and those that he wrote first. These would be a wonderful addition to any collectors library.
Including mine (hint, hint-to my family-Christmas, Birthdays, with Koontz you can't go wrong!)
What's your favorite of his books?

Dean Koontz Biography...

Glimpses of his Biography
When he was a senior in college, Dean Koontz won an Atlantic Monthly fiction competition and has been writing ever since."
"The New York Times has called his writing "psychologically complex, masterly and satisfying."
"The New Orleans Times-Picayune said Koontz is, "at times lyrical without ever being naive or romantic. [He creates] a grotesque world, much like that of Flannery O'Conner or Walker Percy ... scary, worthwhile reading." "
"Rolling Stone has hailed him as "America's most popular suspense novelist."
"Dean Koontz was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University), and his first job after graduation was with the Appalachian Poverty Program, where he was expected to counsel and tutor underprivileged children on a one-to-one basis. His first day on the job, he discovered that the previous occupier of his position had been beaten up by the very kids he had been trying to help and had landed in the hospital for several weeks."
"Dean Koontz lives with his wife, Gerda, and the enduring spirit of their golden retriever, Trixie, in southern California."

There is something special about owning your very own signed edition of your favorite author. I cried when my son gave me mine. It was Dean Koontz' "The Husband", and I treasure it. It doesn't just sit on my bookshelf, it sits wrapped up so that it doesn't get shelf wear. Yes I did read it first though, but very, very carefully!

- My daughter-in-law is probably Dean Koontz biggest fan and after she introduced me to him about 15 years ago, I became a HUGE fan. I have almost all his books and always wait on 'pins & needles' for his 'latest'. My favorite is "Watchers", but I love the two he wrote about the same characters - "Fear Nothing" and "Seize the Night", as he places the stories in a town called 'Moonlight Bay' which my son & I are convinced is Morro Bay, CA, near where we used to live. The description of the area matches it so closely, even though we are aware Koontz uses fictional places in his stories. I've read those two books - back-to-back - at least 6 times each and wish Dean Koontz would write another in the same series, like he did with the 'Odd' series. He left the ending of the second book 'open' in a way that felt like there was 'more to come' and he even said in an interview that he planned to do another about Christopher Snow, the main character in that series. As you can tell, I'm definitely a 'fan' of Dean Koontz.

- I too loved the book "Watchers" I fell in love with the dog, and at the time I read it I had a dog named Alaya whom I loved dearly. I always thought that she would have understood the golden retriever, and that he would have helped her to communicate with me. Once while watching a beautiful sunset together I thought that I heard her thoughts, but that is another story.
