Top 10 Crazy Geniuses
1 - Albert Einstein
March 14, 1879 - April 18, 1955
I always found Einstein fascinating. The idea that a patent clerk could become one of science's greatest minds is, I think, inspiring. It's that whole "David and Goliath" thing. You really have to have a twist of mind to come up with some of the theories he developed. I love how he realized that the speed of light had to be a constant and that time and space are not constant. It still blows my mind.
I consider him to be my all time favorite crazy genius.
Crazy Reason: Just look at the picture. Now think about his contributions to science. Mind boggling.

2 - Vincent Van Gogh
1853 - 1850
I'm not much of an art fan, but I have to say that I find Mr. Van Gogh interesting because of his use of color. If you do an image search on Google for Van Gogh, the vibrant colors he chose to use are very apparent. Was he crazy? He was placed in an asylum at one point in his life, so I guess he qualifies, never mind the fact that he sliced off a piece of his ear.
Crazy Reason: He was.

- Yes,.. I'd have to agree, Vincent was one of a kind genius, after looking back over the realities of his short life, seeing what had really caused all of his own torment. After his recapping all of his own love affairs, supposedly with the wrong women, his own trust he had put in religion and humanities, his own brothers and sisters, mother and father, aunts & uncles, colleagues and supposed friends, gave him such an insight, he just could not help himself.
Cheers!

- Great start! I'm waiting for the other 9 - how about Nikola Tesla? Salvador Dali? Real nut jobs, but incredible contributions to science and art.
I believe part of Einstein's brilliance was his ability to be the "eternal child" in a preserved state of imagination, able to explore ALL possibilities.
